1. National Assembly postpones resumption, reveals new date

The leadership of the National Assembly has postponed the resumption of plenary earlier scheduled for Tuesday, February 19, to Tuesday, February 26.

In a statement on Sunday the Clerk to the National Assembly, Mohammed Sani-Omolori, explained that the shift in the resumption date was due to the postponement of the Presidential/National Assembly elections.

2. How Buhari, APC, Amina Zakari sabotaged INEC’s efforts – PDP

The main opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has accused President Muhammadu Buhari and the APC of sabotaging the efforts of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) operations using Amina Zakari.

In a statement on Sunday by its spokesperson, Kola Ologbondiyan, PDP claimed Amina Zakari alongside other commissioners were used to sabotage the electoral commission’s operations.

3. 3 commanders dead as Army, Boko Haram clash

Three key commanders have been confirmed dead after a clash between troops of the Nigerian Army and Boko Haram insurgents.

Naija News reports that the Nigerian Army eliminated the three key commanders of Boko Haram on Saturday, February 16 at the Warawara general area of Borno.

4. Okorocha, Amosun and Ajimobi will not become Senators – Prophet

Prophet Temitope Aduroja, who predicted Goodluck Jonathan’s defeat in 2015, as well as the postponement 2019 general elections, says three Nigerian governors vying for the post of senators in the country will not achieve their ambitions.

The clergyman listed Governor Isiaka Ajimobi of Oyo, Ibikunle Amosun of Ogun and Rochas Okorocha of Imo State as the three governors that will not achieve their ambitions.

5. Niger APC senatorial candidate is INEC’s contractor – Mahmood Yakubu confirms

The national chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, has confirmed that one of the candidates of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Nigeria’s ruling party, is a contractor with the commission.

Naija News reports that the contractor in question is Mohammed Musa, APC’s candidate for the Niger East senatorial district seat.

6. Ekiti PDP raises concern over disparities in electoral materials

The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Ekiti State has raised concern over disparities in the electoral materials brought to the State by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), production of excess Polling Units Result Sheets (Form EC8A) and late return of electoral materials for House of Representatives dispatched on Friday, February 15, 2019, before the postponement of the elections.

The party said it was curious that materials for House of Representatives election were not complete.

7. Senator Dino Melaye escapes assassination attempt

Senator Dino Melaye (PDP-Kogi West) has allegedly escaped an assassination attempt on his life in Kogi State.

The embattled lawmaker revealed this in a post on microblogging site, Twitter on Saturday.

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain disclosed that the vehicle he was travelling in was shot at by hired thugs wearing camouflage.

8. Buhari to replace INEC chairman, CUPP alleges

Coalition of United Political Parties (CUPP) has revealed alleged plans by the President Muhammadu Buhari-led administration to suspend the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Mahmood Yakubu.

In a statement obtained by Naija News, CUPP alleged that the President is already making plans to suspend and replace the INEC chairman with Amina Zakari as the acting chairman of the electoral umpire.

9. Senator Adamu slams INEC over election postponement

Senator Abdullahi Adamu (APC-Nasarawa West) has said the excuse given by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for the postponement of the general elections are cogent but untimely.

The former Nasarawa State governor stated this while reacting to the reasons tendered by the electoral commission for shifting the elections, on Sunday in Keffi.

10. Davido apologizes to women after body shaming Lolo

Davido on Sunday apologised to a female lawyer, T.Lolo, and all women after body shaming her in his response to her shade over his political involvement.

The apology, which was posted on Instagram, was not only directed to Lolo, the woman who told the singer that he was selling his soul by campaigning for the Peoples Democratic Party‘s presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar, but to women all over the world.
