The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Nigeria’s electoral umpire, has shifted the 2019 Presidential and National Assembly elections till February 23.
Naija News reports that the Commission also postponed the governorship and state assembly elections, it will now hold on March 9.
INEC Ends Emergency Meeting, Takes Decision On Presidential Election
The chief press secretary to the chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Rotimi Oyekanmi, says the electoral umpire has taken a decision on the elections.
Naija News reports that Oyekanmi made this known at the end of an emergency meeting which held at the INEC headquarters in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital on Friday night, February 15.
66 People Killed In Kaduna On Presidential Election Eve
Governor Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna state on Friday confirmed the killing of 66 persons in Kajuru Local Government Area by unknown gunmen on the eve of the presidential election.
Among the victims were 22 children and 12 women, while four wounded persons were rescued alive.

Some members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) on election duty were on Friday night abandoned at Remo North in Ogun State, southwest Nigeria, Naija Newscan report.
Naija News learned that the corpers that were stranded were said to have been transferred from Abeokuta South to Remo North.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has on Friday said the commission was ready for Saturday’s Presidential and National Assembly elections in Gombe State.
