The Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Nigeria’s electoral umpire, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, is currently addressing the Press on the 2019 elections.
Naija News reports that the Commission fixed the Presidential and National Assembly elections February 16, but reports in some quarters in the country suggested that the elections had been postponed.
Speaking on the development, the chief press secretary to INEC Chairman, Rotimi Oyekanmi, said the electoral umpire had taken a decision on the elections.
Oyekanmi made this known at the end of an emergency meeting which held at the INEC headquarters in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital on Friday night, February 15.
The CPS to the INEC Chairman had said his principal, Mahmood Yakubu, would soon brief Nigerians on the outcome of the meeting.
