Nigeria as a country is set to go to the polls for a general election the sixth time after the return to democracy in 1999.

A new president and members of the National Assembly would emerge after the Saturday, February 16, election governors and members of state Houses of Assembly would be elected later on March 2.

This year election is very significant to the history of Nigeria considering the fact that the country has enjoyed 20 years of uninterrupted democracy since the military-led government handed over power to a democratically elected government on May 29, 1999.
