Taraba INEC Resident Electoral Commissioner Dies

Ahead of the Saturday elections, the Independent National Electoral Commission has announced that over 3.6 million registered voters in Kaduna state have collected their Permanent Voter’s Cards.

The data was released by the INEC Resident Electoral Commissioner for the state, Kaugama Abdullahi, to the News Agency of Nigeria on Thursday in Kaduna.

While speaking, he stated that no fewer than 244, 092 eligible voters would not participate in the election due to lack of PVCs.

Recall that the electoral body had extended the date for the collection of PVCs to February 11 which saw many Nigerians struggle to obtain their cards.

“This is because they failed to turn up to collect their PVCs before the close of the last deadline of February 11, as set by the commission,’’ Abdullahi said.

The data which was released by the Information and Communication Unit of the Commission revealed that 3,904,088 residents had registered during the Voter Registration Exercise.

3,659,996 residents were reported to have collected their PVCs while 244,092 are yet to collect their PVCs.
