Buhari Approves Loan For Nigeria's Creative Industry

The candidacy of President Muhammadu Buhari, Delta State governor, Sen Ifeanyi Okowa and some candidates across different political parties in Delta South Senatorial District, has been endorsed by the Warri Women and Youths Consultative Assembly, saying its action was informed by the desire for good governance.

Through its Convener, Chief Rita Lori-Ogbebor, the group explained that its decision to support the President was necessitated by his anti-corruption campaign, adding that corruption must be tackled for the nation to prosper.

It said it decided to back Okowa given what it described as the governor’s commitment to project-delivery.

She said: “There is an adage in Itsekiri which says that the failure to speak against evil kills elders, while failure to listen to elders kills young people. That is why I speaking at a time like this when Nigerians are poised to elect leaders into various elective positions. I am not speaking as a politician because I am not one. I am speaking as a senior citizen, who wants the best for Nigerians. President Muhammadu Buhari’s anti-corruption crusade is aimed at ensuring that Nigeria is corruption free and there will not be any meaningful growth in a corrupt society. As a mother and an elder stateswoman, who has long been in the struggle for accountability in the country, the best we can do at this moment is to support his re-election bid.

“Governor Okowa has shown that he is a leader with a human face and he is always ready to listen to the people he was elected to serve. He has performed where others before him failed, to the point of endearing himself to Itsekiri communities that were long neglected by past governments in the state. For someone, who has done that for the communities that contribute greatly to the nation’s oil wealth, supporting him to conclude the jobs he has started becomes an option. At the same time, we are endorsing Mr. Temisan Omatseye for the Delta South Senatorial District seat, Daniel Reyenieju for Warri Federal Constituency, Wilson Austin Uroye for Warri South Constituency in Delta State House of Assembly, and Wilson Alatsa for Warri North Constituency in Delta State House of Assembly.’’
