1. Buhari Makes 30 New Appointments For RMAFC (Full List)

President Muhammadu Buhari has forwarded the names of thirty (30) nominees as Chairman and Commissioners of the Revenue Mobilization Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC)to the Nigerian Senate for confirmation. Naija News reports that the appointments were conveyed in a letter signed by President Buhari and sent to the Senate President, Abubakar Bukola.

2. Supreme Court Upholds Judgement Which Cancelled Rivers APC Primaries

The Supreme Court in a judgement on Friday has upheld the nullification of the primaries conducted by the All Progressives Congress in Rivers State. A five-man panel of Judges led by Justice Mohammed Dattijo dismissed the suit and upheld the judgment of the Federal High Court.

3. INEC Bows To Pressure, Extends Deadline For PVCs’ Collection

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Nigeria’s electoral umpire, has finally extended the deadline for collection of Permanent Voters Cards (PVCs). INEC Chairman, Professor Mahmood Yakubu, made the announcement at today’s meeting with Resident Electoral Commissioners (REC) in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital.

4. Lagos Govt Speaks On Blocking Roads For Buhari’s Campaign

The Lagos state government on Friday, February 8, said there would be no road closure as earlier announced. Naija News had reported about the state government’s plans to shut down about 18 of its routes prior to the visit of President Muhammadu Buhari for the presidential campaign of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state.

5. Court Discharges And Acquits Rashidi Ladoja In N4.7m EFCC Case

A former governor of Oyo state, Chief Rashidi Ladoja has been discharged and acquited by the Federal High Court in Lagos in the N4.7m fraud case levelled against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission. The court presided over by Justice Mohammed Idris also freed Mr Waheed Akanbi, who was the Oyo State Commissioner for Finance during Ladoja’s administration.

6. 1,000 Pastors Endorse Buhari, Give Reasons

One thousand pastors under the auspices of the National Inter-Faith and Religious Organizations for Peace (NIFROP), have endorsed President Muhammadu Buhari for a second term. Naija News reports that the clerics endorsed the President at the Unity Fountain in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital.

7. Court In Kaduna State Orders The Arrest Of CCB Chairman Over El-Rufai’s Assets

Justice Mario Mohammed of a Kaduna State High Court has issued an arrest warrant against the Chairman of the Code of Conduct Bureau, CCB, for contempt. The warrant of arrest followed the repeated ignoring of several summonses by the court in a suit between the State Governor, Nasir El-Rufa’i and Today’s Publishing Company Limited, and one other.

8. Lagos To Shut Down Popular Ladipo Market

The Lagos Waste Management Authority (LAWMA) on Friday, said it might be forced to close down the popular Ladipo market in Mushin owing to the porous state of waste management in the market. Naija News reports that the public relations officer, LAWMA, Obinna Onyenali said that the conclusion was reached after the attention of the authority had been drawn to the unhealthy state of waste management in the popular market which many Nigerians derive their daily bread from.

9. Players Pay Tribute To Cardiff City Star, Emiliano Sala

Top players in Football have been paying their tribute to Cardiff City star, Emiliano Sala after his body was found in the wreckage of a plane which crashed. Recall that Naija News had reported that a body which was recovered from the wreckage of a plane in the English Channel was identified as Sala, according to the Dorset police on Thursday.
