Before He Arrived, I Didn’t Like Him - Lacazette Opens Up On Relationship With Aubameyang

Arsenal top striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has suggested to manager Unai Emery that he wants to play alongside Frenchman Alexandre Lacazette in the Gunner’s attack.

Arsenal manager has struggled at times to find a tactical system that fits both Aubameyang and Lacazette.

Earlier on in the season, he rotated between the two up front or played one of them on the wing using a 4-2-3-1 formation.

Although the Gabonesse striker has established himself as Arsenal’s first-choice striker under Emery, Lacazette has had a good run in the side of late, starting five of the club’s last six games in all competitions with Emery alternating between a 3-5-2 and 4-3-1-2.

Despite insisting his favoured position is up front, though, Aubameyang insisted he will play out wide if Emery asks him to.

Speaking to Sky Sports, Aubameyang said: “My favourite role is playing striker, in front. I also like playing on the wing, but I think my best position is striker.

“I like to play with two up front, it’s nice because you can do some combinations with the other strikers. If the coach needs me on the right or on the left, it doesn’t matter, I go and I fight for the team, it’s no problem.”

Emery might gave another chance to the duo to blossom when the Gunners take on Manchester City in a tie that has been dubbed “Super Sunday.”

New signing Denis Suarez might also get the chance to mark his debut against last seasons English Premier League champions.

The last time both sides met, Manchester City ran away with a 2-0 victory in Unai Emery‘s first Premier League game.
