1. APC won’t field candidates in Zamfara – INEC insists

Nigeria’s electoral umpire, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has insisted that the All Progressives Congress (APC), Nigeria’s ruling party, will not field candidates for the elections in Zamfara state.

Naija News reports that INEC made this known on Wednesday after its meeting, where it maintained its stance that the party did not conduct valid primaries to elect candidates for the governorship, national assembly and state assembly elections in Zamfara.

2. Finally, EFCC drags Babachir Lawal to court

Nigeria’s anti-graft agency, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has finally filed a 10-count charge against the former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Babachir Lawal.

Naija News reports that the charges were filed at a high court in the federal capital territory (FCT), Abuja, Nigeria’s capital.

3. Atiku considers granting amnesty to repentant looters if elected president

The Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, says he will consider granting amnesty to looters of Nigeria‘s treasury who are willing to surrender their loot.

Naija News reports that the PDP Presidential candidate made this comment when he featured on The Candidates, a live television programme on the 2019 elections anchored by Kadaria Ahmed.

4. Court rejects Onnoghen’s request to stop his suspension

Suspended Cheif justice of Nigeria, Walter Onnoghen has lost his bid to challenge his suspension as the court of appeal sitting in Abuja, today, dismissed his petition seeking the stay of proceedings on his ongoing trial at the Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT).

Recall that Onnoghen had filed a suit against the President Muhammadu Buhari-led Federal Government, arguing that the CCT had no jurisdiction over his suspension.

5. I borrowed EFCC N300m to start its operation – Atiku

The Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, has revealed that he gave a loan of N300million to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) from privatisation proceeds to commence activities when the anti-graft agency was set up.

Naija News reports that the PDP Presidential candidate made this comment when he featured on The Candidates, a live television programme on the 2019 elections anchored by Kadaria Ahmed.

6. 2 persons die, vehicles burnt in Lagos tanker explosion along Badagry express way

It was an early morning tragedy today as two persons, a male and a female, have been confirmed dead after a fire incident that occurred when a truck, loaded with 33,000 litres of petroleum product, fell and caught fire at Barracks Bus Stop, along the Mile 2/Badagry Expressway, Lagos.

Eyewitnesses said the incident occurred around 5am on Wednesday.

7. Gunmen kidnap APC Chairman in Adamawa, demand N20m ransom

Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Demsa Local Government Area of Adamawa State, Hamisu Mijinyawa has been kidnapped.

According to Mark Dauda, an official of the APC in the state, Mijinyawa was kidnapped around 1:00am on Wednesday.

8. Atiku is working to please foreign interests – Oshiomhole

Adams Oshiomhole, the All Progressives Congress (APC)‘s National chairman, has alleged that Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)’s a presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar is working for foreign interests.

He said this at the APC presidential campaign which took place at the Abakaliki township stadium in Ebonyi.

9. Keyamo blames Atiku for America’s slide on TI’s corruption index

Mr. Festus Keyamo (SAN), the Buhari Campaign Organisation’s Director of Strategic Communications, has blamed the Presidential Candidate of the People’s Democratic Party, Atiku Abubakar, for the reason the United States dropped on Transparency International’s Corruption Perception Index.

Keyamo in made this assertion in a tweet while reacting to America’s slide on TI’s corruption perception index.

10. Coca-cola officially takes over Chi limited

The Cola-Cola Company has now fully bought Chi Limited.

Through a statement today, Coca-Cola announced that it has extended its minority investment in the company to full ownership.
