Thousands Sign “Don’t Give Sexual Offenders A Stage’’ Petition Against R.Kelly

Thousands of people in Germany have signed a change.org online petition in an attempt to stop the two concerts by US Singer, R.Kelly

This is coming in less than a month after Lifetime media released a trailer, showing stories of women who allegedly have been physically and emotionally  and sexually abused by the singer, Naija News reports

The singer has however denied the allegations in the ‘surviving R-Kelly‘ documentary.

Already today, almost 22,000 people have signed the online petition, the motto of which is “Don’t give sexual offenders a stage.’’

The petition calls for concerts planned in Ludwigsburg in southern Germany on April 12 and in the northern port city of Hamburg on April 14 to be cancelled due to allegations of sexual misconduct against the artist.

It is not clear yet whether the protest will be effective enough to cancel the concerts.

The concert organisers were not available for comment at the time of filing this report.

Meanwhile, a municipal official in Hamburg told dpa that a binding contract had been signed for the 7,000-seat venue Hamburger Sporthalle for April 14.

It was up to the German agency organising the concerts to decide whether the concert should go ahead.
