1. I will pay 100,000 minimum wage if elected President – Sowore

The presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC), Mr Omoyele Sowore, has promised to pay workers 100,000 as minimum wage if elected as the next president of the nation on Feb. 16.

Sowore made the pledge at a town hall meeting tagged: ‘The Candidates’ organised by the MacArthur Foundation in collaboration with NTA and DARIA media in Abuja.

2. Electoral Amendment Bill: why we didn’t override President Buhari – Saraki

The National Assembly stood down the option of overriding President Muhammadu Buhari’s veto on the electoral bill because it couldn’t get enough numbers, the Senate president, Bukola Saraki, has said.

He made the disclosure while answering questions on a live TV programme Wednesday morning.

3. Police deny arresting Rotimi Amaechi at Port Harcourt airport

The Police Command in Rivers State has denied the allegation been peddled in certain quarters that it has arrested the immediate-past governor of the state and Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi.

Speaking on the development, the State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Nnamdi Omoni, in a statement issued on behalf of the state Commissioner of Police, Usman Belel, attributed the insinuations to the handiwork of some mischievous persons.

4. Oby Ezekwesili withdraws from 2019 presidential race

The presidential candidate of the Allied Congress Party of Nigeria (ACPN), Oby Ezekwesili, has withdrawn from the February 16 presidential election, Naija News can authoritatively report.

In a statement made available to the press on Thursday morning, Mrs Ezekwesili said her decision to step down was in a bid to help build a coalition viable of defeating the All Progressive Congress and the Peoples Democratic Party in the election.

5. Saraki clarifies issue of Atiku being listed as his aide during US trip

Senate President Bukola Saraki says the Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Atiku Abubakar, did not travel to the United States as an aide to him.

However, Speaking ona live TV interview on Wednesday, Saraki, who is the Director-General, Atiku Abubakar Campaign Organisation, described the allegation as nonsensical.

6. Biafra: Nnamdi Kanu reveals how Atiku confirmed Buhari as ‘Jubril’

The leader of the outlawed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, has alleged that Atiku Abubakar, the Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has confirmed President Muhammadu Buhari to be ‘Jubril’, an impostor in Aso Rock.

Backing up his allegation, Kanu said Abubakar’s remark on Tuesday laid credence to his earlier claim that Buhari is “dead” and replaced by Jubril.

Naija News recalls that Abubakar, a former Vice President while addressing PDP supporters in Jigawa on Tuesday, said Buhari was not “a full-fledged Fulani man because he cannot speak Fulfulde.”

7. Massive redeployment hit Federal High Court Judges

A mass reshuffling of judges by the management of the Federal High Court has brought back a prominent judge of the court, Justice Okon Abang, to the Abuja Division, from where he was posted to Asaba division two years ago.

This is coming at a time when the federal government has also made attempts to have the Cheif Justice of Nigeria, Walter Onnoghen, step aside after slamming a case bordering on false declaration of assets against him.

8. Army says Niger Delta is safe, deny rumours on operation delta safe

The Nigerian Army has reacted to rumours on the activities of its troops in the Niger Delta region, saying the unfounded rumours are calculated to create mischief.

It said the rumours are been sponsored by some unscrupulous elements in the society and targeted at misinforming the public and creating panic.

9. How I exposed CJN Onnoghen – Sowore

The presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC), Omoyele Sowore, says he was the first person to expose the Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Walter Onnoghen, as possessing accounts containing unexplainable funds.

Sowore made this statement on Wednesday when he appeared alongside the AAC vice-presidential candidate, Dr Rabiu Rufai, on The Candidates, a town hall meeting for presidential candidates hosted by Kadaria Ahmed.

10. Boko Haram attacks Geidam town in Yobe state

Boko Haram insurgents have infiltrated the city of Geidam, Yobe state, firing sporadically at residents of the city.

According to residents of the insurgents used the market to infiltrate the emerging merchant city.

They claimed that the insurgents stormed the city around 5:30 pm, renting the air with bullets, and shot at the residents in the streets.
