City beat Tottenham

Manchester City, Burton’s easy 9-0 winner (D3) in the first leg, qualified without forcing for the final of the English League Cup, after winning 1-0 on Wednesday in the second leg.

The only goal of the match was scored in the first half by Sergio Aguero of Argentina, who was well served by Riyad Mahrez at the penalty point.

City coach Pep Guardiola lined up a highly-reshuffled squad with several young players, including promising left-back Ukrainian Oleksandr Zinchenko, who scored a magnificent goal in the first leg.

French international Benjamin Mendy, who suffered a sprained left knee last November, came into play in the 63rd minute, returning to competition two months after his last match.

The title-holders, the Citizens will try to win a sixth title in the competition against Chelsea or Tottenham, who face Thursday for a place in the final.

Wednesday:

Burton Albion (D3) – Manchester City 0 – 1 (Away: 9-0 for Manchester City)

Rest to play Thursday:

Chelsea – Tottenham (0-1)
