A 19-year-old commercial motorcyclist identified as Afeez Babalola has been remanded in prison for allegedly raping a six-year-old girl.

The order was given by an Iyaganku Senior Magistrates’ Court, sitting in Ibadan, Oyo State.

According to NAN, the accused whose address was not disclosed was in court on the charge of rape.

The prosecutor, ASP Samad Aliu, told the court that the accused allegedly had unlawful carnal knowledge of the minor without her consent.

Aliu said, “On a fateful day, Babalola went to his friend’s house at Orieru, to wash his motorcycle, where he saw the minor, who was on an errand to buy meat pie.

“Babalola allegedly waylaid the girl and took her to a corner and raped her, and the girl later alerted her mother”.

The magistrate, Mrs Patricia Adetuyibi, remanded Babalola in Agodi Prison pending the time advice would be issued by the Ministry of Justice.

The defendant’s plea was not taken by the court. Adetuyibi adjourned the case until Feb. 25, for a mention.
