See Fresh Allegations Against Melaye After His Bail

After fulfilling the bail conditions for his release has ordered by a court on Friday, the embattled Kogi Senator Dino Melaye, has had a fresh nine-count charge slammed against him.

Recall that as published in earlier reports by Naija News, the Police had before now wanted him for criminal conspiracy and attempted culpable homicide committed on 19 July 2018.

However, the fresh charges filed, bordered on lying and resisting arrest. This was after the senator fulfilled the bail conditions a high court in Abuja granted him on Friday.

In the charge sheet, one Silas Omenka was named as a defendant in the suit filed by the police according to reports by The Cable.

It is unclear who Omenka is and the role he played during the 8-day siege laid to the Abuja residence of the lawmaker.

Below are the charges:

Count One

That you Senator Dino Melaye ‘m’ 45 yrs, representing Kogi West Senatorial District in the Eight National Assembly and Silas Omenka ‘m‘ 38 yrs of Opposite Deeper Life Church, Kabayi, Mararaba, Nasarawa State on or about the 28th December 2018 at about 1030hrs, at No. 11 Sangha Street, Off Mississipi Maitama Abuja under the jurisdiction of this Honourable Court did conspire among yourself to commit an offence to wit: illegal obstruction of lawful arrest and thereby committed an offence contrary to Section 97 of the Penal Code.

Count Two

That you Senator Dino Melaye ‘m’ 45 yrs, representing Kogi West Senatorial District in the Eight National Assembly on or about the 28‘” December 2018 at about 1030hrs at No. 11 Sangha Street. Off Mississipi Maitama Abuja, under the jurisdiction of this Honourable Court did intentionally offered resistance to your lawful arrest, when a team of Police detectives with a duly signed Warrant of Arrest got to your residence at No. 11 Sangha Street, Off Mississipi Maitama Abuja to effect your arrest for the offences of criminal conspiracy and attempted culpable homicide and illegal possession of prohibited firearms and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 172 of the Penal Code.

Count Three

That you Silas Omenka ‘m’ 38 yrs of Opposite Deeper Life Church, Kabayi, Maraba, Nasarawa State on or about the 28th December 2018 at about 1030hrs, under the jurisdiction of this Honourable Court did intentionally offered illegal obstruction to the lawful arrest of Senator Dino Melaye for the offences of criminal conspiracy and attempted culpable homicide and illegal possession of prohibited firearms when a team of Police detectives with a duly signed Warrant of Arrest got to his residence at No. 11 Sangha Street, Off Mississipi Maitama Abuja to effect his arrest by locking the entrance gate and pushed the Detectives with entrance gate with an intention to obstruct the Detectives from gaining entrance to effect the arrest of Senator Dino Melaye and thereby committed an offence contrary to Section 171 of the Penal Code

Count Four

That you Senator Dino Melaye ‘m‘ 45 yrs, representing Kogi West Senatorial District in the Eight National Assembly on or about the 24th July, 2018 at about 1200hrs at No. 11 Sangha Street, Off Mississipi Maitama Abuja under the jurisdiction of this Honourable Court did intentionally and without reasonable cause refuse to honour and attend Police invitation written and signed on 23rd of July, 2018 by the Commissioner of Police Kogi State command served on you through the Clerk of the National Assembly Three Arms Zone Central Business District Abuja to report at the Office of the Deputy Commissioner of Police Kogi State Command in respect of a case of Criminal Conspiracy and attempted Culpable Homicide and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 136 of the Penal Code.

Count Five

That you Senator Dino Melaye ‘m’ 45 yrs, representing Kogi West Senatorial District in the Eight National Assembly on or about the 28th December, 2018 at about 1700hrs at No 11 Sangha Street, Off Mississipi Maitama Abuja under the jurisdiction of this Honourable Court did intentionally inform the public through a telephone conversation when a team of Police detectives with a duly signed Warrant of Arrest got to your residence at No. 11 Sangha Street, Off Mississipi Maitama Abuja to effect your arrest which was aired on Channels television that you were outside Abuja and that you will make yourself available as soon as you are back to Abuja whereas you were at Abuja, an information you know to be false and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 138 of the Penal Code.

Count Six

That you Senator Dino Melaye ‘m‘ 45 yrs, representing Kogi West Senatorial District in the Eight National Assembly on or about the 28th December, 2018 at about 1030hrs at No. 11 Sangha Street, Off Mississipi Maitama Abuja under the jurisdiction of this Honourable Court did intentionally inform the public through a telephone conversation when a team of Police detectives with a duly signed Warrant of Arrest got to your residence at No. 11 Sangha Street, Off Mississipi Maitama Abuja to effect your arrest which was aired on Channels television that you were outside Abuja and that you will make yourself available as soon as you are back to Abuja whereas you were at Abuja and knowing it to be likely acted upon by the Police, which would have if acted upon prevented your arrest and pave way for your escape from arrest and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 140 of the Penal Code.

Count Seven

That you Senator Dino Melaye ‘m’ 45yrs, representing Kogi West Senatorial District in the Eight National Assembly on or about the 28th December, 2018 at about 1100hrs at your residence at No 11 Sangha Street, Off Mississippi Maitama Abuja under the jurisdiction of this Honourable Court did intentionally inform the public on tweeter that the Police Detectives are trying to plant guns in your cars outside, an information you know to be false and having reason to believe that such imputation will harm the reputation of the Police and you thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 392 of the Penal Code.

Count Eight

That you Senator Dino Melaye ‘m’ 45 yrs, representing Kogi West Senatorial District in the Eight National Assembly on or about the 25th December, 2018 at about 1300hrs at No. 11 Sangha Street, Off Mississipi Maitama Abuja under the jurisdiction of this Honourable Court did intentionally with intent to excite feeling of disaffection by the public against the members of the Nigeria Police Force and the Inspector General of Police twitted that the Inspector General of Police has planned to arrest and inject you to death and that the Inspector General of Police has deployed Commissioner of Police (CP) Kogi State Command to carry out the plan an information you know to be false and against the Administration of Justice in Nigeria, thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 416 of the Penal Code.

Count Nine.

That you Senator Dino Melaye ‘m’ 45 yrs, representing Kogi West Senatorial District in the Eight National Assembly on or about the 25th December, 2018 at about 1300hrs at No. 11 Sangha Street, Off Mississipi Maitama Abuja under the jurisdiction of this Honourable Court did intentionally make a false statement that the Inspector General of Police has planned to arrest and inject you to death and that the Inspector General of Police has deployed Commissioner of Police (CP) Kogi State Command to carry out the plan an information knowing or having reason to believe that such injurious falsehood will harm the reputation of the person of the Inspector General of Police, IGP Ibrahim K. Idris and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 393 of the Penal Code.

Recall that as published by Naija News in earlier reports, Melaye had perfected his bail conditions and was expected to be released yesterday but information gathered by our reporter says an associate of Melaye claimed the Kogi senator was still been kept in Police custody as at yesterday evening.

The fresh charges may, therefore, explain the decision by the Police to keep Melaye in custody.
