1. Buhari, Osinbajo To Participate In Televised Town-Hall Programme Today

President Muhammadu Buhari and his Vice, Yemi Osinbajo (SAN) will on Wednesday, January 16, participate in a live televised two-hour presidential town-hall programme. A statement issued on Tuesday by Festus Keyamo (SAN), the Director, Strategic Communications, APC Presidential Campaign Council and made available to Naija News, said the event will hold at the Ladi Kwali Conference Center, Ballroom of Sheraton Hotel in Abuja, Nigeria‘s capital.

2. 2019 Armed Forces Remembrance Day: Nigeria’s Fallen Heroes Honoured By Nigerian Leaders and Service Chiefs

Nigerian leaders and service chiefs are currently at the arcade in Abuja to commemorate the 2019 Armed Forces Remembrance Day. President Muhammadu Buhari is expected to review a presidential parade and participate in the annual wreath-laying ceremony at the event.

3. Strike Continues As ASUU Reject FG’s Offers

Striking members of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) have rejected the proposal made by the federal government to end their ongoing strike action. The leadership of the union are expected to make their position publicly known today by submitting the report of its discussion with members to the federal government, Naija News understands.

4. Officially Confirmed: Mohammed Abubakar Adamu Is Acting IGP

The Inspector General of Police, IGP Ibrahim Kpotun Idris, NPM, mni retires today, 15th January 2019 from service of the Nigeria Police Force at the age of Sixty (60) Years. The President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Federal Republic of Nigeria has consequently directed that the outgoing Inspector General of Police, IGP Ibrahim Kpotun Idris, NPM, mni, hand over to the Assistant Inspector General of Police, AIG Mohammed Abubakar Adamu,mni as the Acting Inspector General of Police.

5. EFCC Speaks On Raiding CJN Onnoghen’s Residence

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has denied rumours in some quarters that it raided the residence of the Chief justice of Nigeria, Walter Onnoghen. Naija News reports that the social media was awash with reports on Tuesday evening that the house of the CJN had been raided by the EFCC.

Next month’s presidential election in Nigeria will be declared inconclusive, Prophet Emmanuel Ezenwa Nwazuo of Revolution Fire Christian Ministry (RFCM), has said. Naija News reports that Prophet Nwazuo who said this in his 2019 prophecies, noted that he saw the Presidential election being declared inconclusive with President Muhammadu Buhari announced as the winner while Atiku Abubakar‘s hands were lifted as the winner of the election.

The Coalition of United Political Parties has on Tuesday listed issues the newly decorated acting Inspector General of Police Mohammed Admu must attend to urgently. The coalition, which comprises of opposition parties, demanded, as a matter of urgency, the release of political detainees such as Senator Dino Melaye and rights activist, Deji Adeyanju.

9. Theresa May Faces Impeachment Threats, As MPs Reject Brexit Deal

UK Prime Minister Theresa May has suffered the biggest loss in the country’s history as members of parliament rejected her Brexit deal by an overwhelming 230 votes. The parliamentarians were quick to make it obvious that they do not support May’s deal, despite the fact that there is just 72 days left till Britain’s Exit from the EU is triggered.

The organiser of Brother Naija (BBNaija), has revealed that the fourth season of the reality television show will be staged in Nigeria. This development means that this new season will not be staged in South Africa, as it was the usual practice.
