INEC Speaks On Collection Of PVC By Proxy.

As part of efforts to make collection of Voters’ cards easy, the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has delegated the collection centers to other 8,809 registration areas and wards, and revert to the commission’s local government areas from January 21.

This is coming less than three weeks before the general elections which is slated to commence with the Presidential and national assembly elections on the 16th of February, 2019, Naija News reports.

According to the commission, the decision follows the appeal made by members of the Public who are yet to collect their PVCs.

It however said there will be no extension of the collection of PVCs beyond February the 8th as all uncollected PVCs would be kept in a secured place until the general election is over.

It also stated that there will also be no collection of PVCs by proxy and the account of uncollected PVC would be disclosed to the public. Furthermore, INEC has asked those who are yet to collect their PVC to seize the current opportunity, to do so.

Recall that the INEC had carried out the continuous voters registration exercise between April the 2nd 2017 and August the 31st, 2018.

During this period, INEC says it registered more than fourteen million new voters, printed their PVCs and delivered them to their states.
