I Won’t Betray Your Trust – Buhari Assures Nigerians

President Muhammadu Buhari has promised not to betray the trust repose on him by Nigerians of all works of life.

The President made this known on Thursday at State House, Abuja, as he was decorated Grand Patron of the Nigerian Media Merit Award (NMMA) by the Board of Trustees of the prime media awards organization in the country.

Femi Adesina, the Senior Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, in a statement, said the president described the investiture as “a timely honour,”

According to the statement, Buhari said that he was no stranger to many of the board members, as he is acquainted with some them for a very long time.

The leader of the delegation, Engr. Vincent Maduka, a former director Nigerian Television Authority, said that the President was so honoured because he “respect the rights of the media to practice, without any hindrance.”

Maduka applauded the impressive role placed by the president in the media industry, state that the first campus television station was established during his reign.

He also revealed that no media house have been shot down since the inception of President Muhammadu Buhari’s government.

Engineer Maduka said the NMMA was established in 1990, to promote excellence in Nigerian media, and has hosted 26 grand award presentations, with the latest holding just a week ago.

Part of the goals of NMMA, he added, was the promotion of patriotism, and unity of the country.
