1. FG to immortalize Shehu Shagari

The federal government has promised to immortalize the late former head of state, Alh. Shehu Shagari who died on Friday in Abuja.

President Mohammadu Buhari, made the promise on Sunday in Sokoto when he paid a condolence visit to the family of the late Nigerian ruler.

2. Police declare Senator Dino Melaye wanted

The Nigerian police force have acknowledged invading Senator Dino Melaye’s Abuja residence and have gone ahead to declare him wanted.

Police spokesperson, Jimoh Moshood said the senator’s house was invaded to effect his arrest in “the case of attempted culpable homicide” against him.

3. Dangote not part of APC presidential campaign council – Presidency

The office of the President has reversed itself on the inclusion of Africa’s richest man, Aliko Dangote in the All Progressives Congress, APC, 2019 presidential campaign council list.

According to the statement from the presidency, Dangote cannot be a member of the campaign council because he is not a card carrying member of the party.

4. Ambode appoints Muri-Okunola as new Lagos HOS

Lagos state Governor, Akinwunmi Ambode of on Sunday approved the appointment of Mr Hakeem Muri-Okunola as the state’s 21st Head of Service (HOS).

The Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Mr Habib Aruna, said Muri-Okunola’s appointment followed the retirement of Mrs Folasade Adesoye on Dec. 27.

5. 300,000 National ID cards ready for collection

The National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) has said that over 300,000 national identity cards for those who enrolled in 2012 are ready for collection.

NIMC Spokesman, Loveday Ogbonna, urged enrollees in the year 2012, up to August 2013 and who were yet to pick up their cards, to do so immediately.

6. PDP says 2019 Army operation python dance is a plan to rig elections

The PDP Presidential Campaign Organisation (PPCO) has rejected the nationwide Military ‘Operation Python Dance’ ahead of the 2019 general elections, which the Army Boss, Tukur Buratai announced.

It described it as a plan by the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) to use the military in rigging the elections.

7. Tambuwal declares public holiday over Shagari’s death

Sokoto State governor, Aminu Tambuwal has has declared Monday, Dec. 31, as public holiday in the state to enable residents offer special prayer for the repose of the soul of former President, Shehu Shagari.

This development was made known by the Director General to the governor, Media and Public Affairs, Malam Abubakar Shekara, in a statement made available to newsmen on Saturday in Sokoto.

8. Uzor Kalu reveals why he dumped PDP for APC

A former governor of Abia State, Chief Orji Uzor Kalu has revealed details of the conversation he had with President Muhammadu Buhari before he joined the rulling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Kalu who governed Abia State, Nigeria from between May 29, 1999, to May 29, 2007 said he left the Peoples Democratic Party for the APC after President Buhari promised to start and complete some projects in the South East.

9. Lagos house of rep member, Abayomi Ayeola is dead

A member of the House of Representatives representing Ibeju Lekki Federal Constituency of Lagos State, Mr Abayomi Ayeola, is dead.

Ayeola reportedly died at St. Nicholas Hospital in Lagos on Sunday afternoon after a brief illness.

10. I rejected $5m bribe from Jonathan – Hamzat

The running mate to the All Progressives Congress, APC, governorship candidate in Lagos State, Obafemi Hamzat, has alleged that he rejected a $5million bribe from former President Goodluck Jonathan during the 2015 elections.

He explained that he refused the money because he was thinking about the future and never wanted to tarnish his image.
