The Bayelsa Police Command has revealed that it has apprehended two men suspected to be armed robbers that ambushed customers near commercial banks in Yenagoa.

DSP Asinim Butswat, the spokesperson of the command, told newsmen in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State capital, that the men were arrested in a tricycle which they allegedly deploy for their criminal activities.

Butswat said that the robbers usually trail customers of commercial banks to secluded spot where they rob their victims of their properties.

Butswat stated that the efforts of the State Commissioner of Police, Aminu Pai Saleh, to ensure a crime Yuletide in Bayelsa was obviously paying off with the recent arrest made.

“On 24 December, at about 1900 hours, two notorious armed robbers were arrested at Swali by UBA Bank, while waiting to rob unsuspecting members of the public of their money after withdrawals.

“The suspects are one Henry Kingsley, 28, from Nembe Local Government Area of Bayelsa; and one Moses Roland, 25, who hails from Ughelli South Local Government Area of Delta State.

“They were arrested in possession of one locally made revolver pistol with one .9mm live ammunition and another locally made pistol with one AA live ammunition.

“The suspects are in custody and are undergoing interrogation,” Butswat said.
