Why 2019 Budget May Not Be Ready Till After General Elections – Lawmakers
There are indications that Nigeria’s 2019 budget may not be passed by lawmakers in the National Assembly till after the general elections in the country next year.
According to the lawmakers, work will resume on the budget estimates at the committee levels when they resume sitting in January 2019, however the process may not be concluded till after the general elections.
Boko Haram Attacks Military Base In Yobe State
A military base located in Kukareta village under Damaturu local government area of Yobe state, was reportedly attacked by Boko Haram terrorists, Monday evening.
Heavy gunfire was reported at the location while residents of the area are said to be fleeing into bushes for fear of been killed in the attack.
Deji Adeyanju: Intervene Now To Save Our Democracy, Saraki Tells Buhari
President of the Senate, Dr. Bukola Saraki has called for the urgent intervention of President Muhammadu Buhari in the continued detention of activist, Mr. Deji Adeyanju.
In a statement on Sunday via his official Facebook page, Saraki said the decision of the Kano magistrate court to remand Adeyanju in prison till February 2019, has presented Nigeria’s democracy in bad light.
