Alex Badeh: Adamawa People Mourn Kinsman

The death of the former Chief of Defence Staff, Air Chief Marshall Alex Badeh, has left the people of Adamawa bereaved as they come to terms with the death of the top military general, who was killed on Tuesday along the Abuja-Keffi road.

Badeh hailed from Vimtim, some 15 kilometres from Mubi, Adamawa State’s commercial nerve centre and headquarters of the Mubi North Local Government Area.

Governor Mohammed Umaru Jibrilla Bindow, in a press statement, by his Special Assistant on Press and Media Affairs, Martins Dickson, on Wednesday, described the death of the top Military officer as unfortunate.

According to the statement, Badeh, who would have clocked 62 next month, still had many years to contribute to the good of humanity.

“The people of Adamawa will not forget in a hurry Badeh’s influence and contribution in citing the Nigeria Air Force Comprehensive Secondary School in Yola, among many other contributions,” Bindow stated.

Bindow stated that Badeh made massive contribution to the nation while he was a chief of air staff for two years and then chief of defence staff for one and a half years.

“Badeh is an illustrious son of Adamawa and his contributions to fighting insurgency and physical development will be appreciated for a long time to come,” Bindow said.

He prayed for the repose of Badeh’s soul and commiserated with his immediate family, the people of Vimtim where Badeh was born, the Nigeria Air Force which became his career constituency, and the Nigerian nation that he served for 38 years, beginning from 1977 when he became a member of the 21 Regular Course of the Nigerian Defence Academy, to 2015 when he, as the chief of defence staff, was retired from military service.
