1. National Assembly workers promise to allow presentation of 2019 budget

Members of staff of the National Assembly have promised not to stop the president, Muhammadu Buhari, from presenting the 2019 budget to federal lawmakers.

The chairman of the Parliamentary Staff Association of Nigeria (PASAN), Bature Mohammed, gave the assurance on behalf of members.

2. Buhari bans 39 prominent Nigerians from travelling abroad

The presidency, has identified and submitted the names of 39 persons alleged to have looted Nigeria’s treasury to the Nigeria Immigration Service, NIS, in order to stop them from traveling abroad.

Chairman of the Special Presidential Investigation Panel for the Recovery of Public Funds, SPIPRPP, Chief Okoi Obono Obla, made the disclosure at a press briefing in Abuja.

3. Former Chief of Defence Staff, Alex Badeh killed by gunmen

A former Chief of Defence Staff, Alex Badeh, was on Tuesday, shot dead by yet to be identified gunmen.

Badeh, who rose to the rank of Air Chief Marshal in the Nigerian military, was shot dead on Tuesday, while returning from his farm along Abuja-Keffi Road.

4. Court of appeal sacks Kasahamu as Ogun PDP governorship candidate

The Court of Appeal sitting in Ibadan on Tuesday sacked Buruji Kashamu as the Ogun State governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

The development means Oladipupo Adebutu is the governorship candidate of the PDP in Ogun State.

5. Lawmakers hold plenary amidst tight security

Members of the Senate held plenary on Tuesday in spite of the blockade by security operatives and members of the Parliamentary Staff Association of Nigeria on strike.

Security operatives had blocked the entrance into the complex earlier today, but it was gathered the lawmakers were allowed entry to the Villa gate, which links the National Assembly with the Presidential Villa.

6. Oshiomhole supports payment of N30,000 minimum wage to workers

The National Chairman of the All Progressive Congress (APC) Comrade Adams Oshiomhole has declared his support for workers’ demand for a new minimum wage.

He asserted that refusal to heed the demands of the workers amounts to creating a circle of poverty for the masses.

7. Senate orders probe of Deji Adeyanju’s arrest by police

The Nigerian Senate has directed its joint committee on police and judiciary to probe the rearrest of political activist Deji Adeyanju by the police.

This follows a point of order called by Sen. Dino Melaye on the floor of the Senate on Tuesday.

8. CUPP withdraws call for boycott of budget presentation by President Buhari

The Coalition of United Political Parties (CUPP) has, on Tuesday, retracted its recent call for federal lawmakers not to attend the Wednesday joint session of the National Assembly during which President Muhammadu Buhari is slated to present the 2019 Appropriation Bill.

The Coalition said that it changed its initial position due to the intervention of the President of the Senate, Bukola Saraki; Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara; and two unnamed former presidents.

9. Video alleges Nigerian Army massacred Shiite members

There is a new evidence on the killing of members of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria (IMN) also known as Shi’ites as they staged their protest in October.

The IMN members who were on a protest for the release of their leader, Ibrahim El-Zakzaky, clashed with soldiers and many of them were killed in the process.

10. Manchester United sacks Jose Mourinho

English Premier League side, Manchester United has parted ways with its head coach, Jose Mourinho.

Manchester United announced this on Tuesday morning ahead of their match against PSG in the their Champions League match.

The Red Devils revealed that an interim coach will be recruited until the end of the season.
