Man in court for burglary

A 20 year old labourer identified as Ana Muhammad, has been sentenced to seven months in prison by a Sokoto Chief Magistrates Court on Tuesday for stealing two drums, a digger and a shovel, belonging to his neighbours.

Muhammad was sentenced by Chief Magistrate, Abubakar Adamu, without an option of fine, after he pleaded guilty to one count of stealing.

Insp Awaisu Mohammed, police prosecutor, had earlier told the court that the convict stole the items from his neighbours Sanusi Bello and Abdulmalik Sani.

The prosecutor said that the complainants reported the case on November 20 at Ungwan Rogo Police Station, Sokoto.

He said that the offence contravened Section 288 of the Penal Code.
