We No Longer Take Obasanjo’s Words Serious – Garba Shehu

Garba Shehu, President Muhammadu Buhari‘s spokesman on Media and Publicity has said the presidency does not takes the utterances of former President Olusegun Obasanjo serious anymore.

This. Shehu said during an interactive session with reporters in Abuja today, while expressing that he wasn’t surprised that Obasanjo was reported to have maintained neutrality at a forum, but later backtracked that he never said that but wants Buhari out.

However, Kehinde Akinyemi, Obasanjo’s spokesman, said there is no way the former president would ever be neutral ahead of the 2019 elections, saying “only a fool will sit on the fence”. He said Obasanjo maintained that Buhari’s re-election will bring “suffering much worse” than what Nigerians go through.

Shehu said Obasanjo is not so strong -willed, adding that the slightest wind can make Obasanjo change his mind.
“Former President Obasanjo denounces one person today and supports that same person the next day,” he said.

“When it pleases him, he brings God into the matter and uses that as his excuse for whatever position he has chosen.

“We have learnt not to take his utterances seriously anymore. We know that the slightest wind can make him change his mind again. After all, this is the same man who publicly tore his party registration card barely four years ago, and he now claims to be backing the same party.”
