1. Atiku Abubakar launches 2019 presidential campaign

A mammoth crowd gathered on Monday at the Shehu Kangiwa Stadium, Sokoto state for a launch of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)‘s presidential campaign for 2019.

The political event was well attended by politicians, party stalwarts and supporters of Atiku and the PDP.

2. Lady implicates Aisha Buhari’s sister, Babachir Lawal in fraud case

A woman simply identified as Amina Mohammed caused a scene at the Department of State Security DSS office, on Monday.

The lady accused of impersonating the first lady, Aisha Buhari, shocked the press and DSS officials when she mentioned the sister of the first lady and ex-SGF, Babachir lawal, as accomplice of fraud.

3. Again ASUU and FG fail to reach agreement

The meeting between the federal government and the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) which held on Monday, failed to reach an agreement to end the lingering strike action embarked upon by the union.

ASUU president, President Biodun Ogunyemi however disclosed that negotiations would continue today between the two parties.

4. Jonah Jang denies owing N500m mansion in Kaduna State

Jonah David Jang, the former governor of Plateau State, has, on Monday, denied ownership of a N500 million property in Kaduna State allegedly traced to him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission.

Jang stated that he will turn-down any invitation extended to him by the commission as regards the property.

5. 26 lawmakers dump APC for APM in Ogun state

No fewer than 26 lawmakers from the Ogun State House of Assembly have dumped the ruling All Progressives Congress,APC for the Allied Peoples Movement (APM).

The spokesman of aggrieved aspirants, Lamidi Olatunji told newsmen that they “have come to inevitable conclusion to actualise their ambitions in APM.”

6. Army says it has not received $1b approved for purchase of weapons

The Nigerian Army said the $1billion approved in 2017 to fight insurgency and other security challenges has not been released to the military.

Following the recent attacks by Boko Haram and cry out from Nigerians on why the military is not better equipped to resist the terrorists, Army spokesman Brig.-Gen. Sani Usman, said the money is still being processed.

7. NLC blames President Buhari for delay in implementation of new minimum wage

The Nigeria Labour Congress has queried President Muhammadu Buhari for delay in sending a draft bill of the N30,000 minimum wage proposal to the National Assembly weeks after report on the minimum wage was submitted to him.

Organised labour said it would not wait till eternity for the government on the issue.

8. IGP deploys 2000 officers, sniffer dogs to fight Boko Haram

The Inspector General of Police, Idris Ibrahim has deployed additional Two Thousand (2000) Police Mobile Force (PMF) and Counter Terrorism Units (CTU) Personnel of the Force and the Sniffer Dog Sections to the North East in the last few days for purely Military Duties to fight Boko Haram insurgency under the Operation Lafiya Dole.

This new deployment is consistent with Section 4 of the Police Act and Regulations which specifies the general duties of the Nigeria Police Force.

9. President Buhari discloses how people who tought he was dead started lobbying for VP slot

President Muhammadu Buhari on Sunday said those who felt he had died during his medical vacation in the UK in 2017, asked Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo to make them his deputy.

As earlier reported, the President has officially denied rumours that he is cloned or that any Jubril from Sudan is occupying Aso Rock.

10. Unilorin student allegedly commits suicide over result

Adigun Olawale Emmanuel, a 27 years old student of the University of Ilorin has allegedly taken his own life.

The late student of the Faculty of Agriculture, was believed to have died after he drank a pesticide, Sniper.

The late Olawale was said to have failed in his final year project last session and was made to repeat the current one before his death.
