Ex-chairman, MAN, Urges FG To Decongest Apapa Road

A former chairman, Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (MAN) Ogun Chapter, Mr Wale Adegbite has advised the Federal Government to intensify efforts in decongesting the traffic jam from Apapa road to the Port.

Imagine trucks parked on 2 lanes on eko bridge, leaving only 1 lane for vehicles. Same on orile & oshodi/apapa expressway. Human beings who ply these roads suffer on a daily. This is not healthy for us.@AkinwunmiAmbode @Gidi_Traffic #RemoveTrucksOnLagosRds

Adegbite, who gave the advice in an interview earlier today in Ota, Ogun, said the effort would ease the pains of manufacturers and others.

He also noted that the massive congestion from Apapa road to the Port had resulted to a significant increase in the cost of transporting containers from Apapa port to various destinations.

“The transporters face heavy traffic when going in and out of the port and this is not good for the economy, “he said. “This is a national issue that needs to be urgently addressed to restore sanity on that road and reduce cost of transporting goods.

He further said that lorries and articulated vehicles parked from Funsho Williams road to the Port which slowed down the pace of doing business in the area.
