Ahead of the 2019 general election, Sam Nwanti, the front-line presidential candidate on the Labor Party (LP) platform, withdrew from the presidential race to support the reelection of President Muhammadu Buhari.

The American detective from Mbieri, in the Mbaitoli district of Imo state, abandoned his ambition during an interactive session with journalists in Owerri.

Nwanti revealed that he had retired from the race to strengthen President Buhari’s candidacy for re-election in the 2019 elections while preparing for the presidential race of 2023.

“Today, I withdraw from contesting for the presidential race on the platform of Labour party and back to APC.

“I am back to APC to support President Buhari for his second term bid because he needs our support to get things aright once again. I will help All Progressives Congress and Buhari led administration fight corruption and as the only detective who is contesting in 2019, it may split the support of President Muhammadu Buhari,”  he added.

He said his retirement from the race was based solely on President Buhari’s support for the fight against corruption in Nigeria for the second time.
