1. Presidency warns United States against giving visa to Atiku

The Federal Government of Nigeria has admonished the United State government not to play out the thought of granting the Presidential candidate of the People Democratic Party (PDP) to avoid creating an impression that the US government is endorsing him for the 2019 election.

Alhaji Lai Mohammed, the Minister of Information and Culture, gave this admonition at an interactive session with media executives in Abuja on Thursday.

2. EFCC now freezing accounts of suspects under investigation

The federal government will henceforth freeze the bank accounts of suspects being tried in court over allegations of corruption by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

This move is reportedly an implementation of the Executive Order No. 6 on the “preservation of suspicious assets connected with corruption and other relevant offences” signed by President Muhammadu Buhari in October 2018.

3. Amosun’s candidate dumps APC for APM

The preferred governorship candidate of Governor Ibikunle Amosun for the All Progressives Congress in Ogun state, Abiodun Akinlade, has just dumped the APC for another party.

Akinlade, who represents Egbado south and Ipokia federal constituency of Ogun state in the National assembly, dumped the APC for the Allied People’s Movement (APM).

4. EFCC conducting forensic analysis on Ganduje bribery video in London

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, (EFCC) has revealed that it is conducting a forensic analysis of the alleged Ganduje bribery video in London.

Ibrahim Magu, acting chairman of the anti-graft agency made the disclosure while answering questions after delivering a lecture in London recently.

5. Court sentences SUBEB chairman to 41 years imprisonment

A Federal High Court sitting in Gusau, Zamfara State, has sentenced the Chairman of the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Murtala Adamu Jengebe to 41-year in imprisonment.

EFCC disclosed that a five-man panel of the Court of Appeal sitting in Sokoto and presided over by Justice Hannatu Sankey sentenced Jengebe to a cumulative jail term of 41 years.

6. Nigerian Army replaces Texas Chukwu with Sani Usman as spokesperson

The Nigerian Army has replaced Texas Chukwu as its spokesman, following an outcry from different quarters on his “inability” to manage information on the counter-insurgency campaign a military source has said.

Sani Usman has also been re-appointed as the Army spokesperson.

7. PDP wants INEC Chairman, Police IG to resign ahead of 2019 elections

Uche Secondus, the Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, has called on the chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Prof. Yakubu Mahmoud, to resign his position, saying he is not capable to conduct a free, fair and credible election.

For the police, Secondus alleged interference in democratic process, and also asked the Inspector general of police, Ibrahim Idris to quit his position.

8. Edgal Imohimi calls for posthumous trial and dismissal of SARS operative who killed LASTMA official

The Commissioner of Police in Lagos State, Edgal Imohimi, has called for the posthumous trial and dismissal of Inspector Olukunle Olonade, who was an operative of the Federal Special Anti-Robbery Squad.

The Inspector, who was reported to be in mufti, had allegedly shot an official of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority, Rotimi Adeyemi, and killed him at the Iyana Ipaja area of Lagos State on Wednesday.

9. Lai Mohammed debunk rumours of President Buhari’s cloning

The Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, has debunked the submission by the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu that President Muhammadu Buhari was cloned in London.

He made the reaction during a media briefing in his office in Abuja, on Thursday, describing the cloning idea as “not only absolute idiotic but also sheer bunkum.”

10. Army overpowers Boko Haram terrorists in Borno state

The Nigerian Army on Thursday said its troops killed four Boko Haram terrorists when they attempted to attack 118 Battalion location at Arege village in Borno on Wednesday.

It disclosed that the terrorists suffered heavy casualties and fled in disarray, leaving behind four dead bodies of their members.
