Tiwa Savage, Davido, 2Baba, Falz Win Big At AFRIMA 2018

Nigeria Music and Music stars once again were recognized at this year’s edition of All Africa Music Awards (AFRIMA), held last night in Accra, Ghana.

With host of music stars converging for the night to celebrate the leap of African Music, the Award recognized Ethiopian singer Betty G, and awarded her with the greatest award of the Night, The Best Album of the Year.

The legendary award was given to the internationally recognized South African singer, Yvonne Chaka Chaka.

Davido scooped Africa’s artiste of the year, with his album, FIA. He also won the best male artiste in West Africa. Tiwa Savage won West Africa’s best female artiste and Falz ran away with best African rapper award.

Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode, was specially recognized for his contributions towards the growth and development of the Arts and Tourism sector of Lagos state, most importantly the role Lagos state played as official host of AFRIMA in its last 4 years from 2014 – 2017.

In what turned out to be an emotional moment for the audience, a special recognition award was given to one of Ghana’s music veteran, Teddy Osei, the leader of the famous Osadebe group, an Afropop band created in 1969.

Artistes were given awards based on 36 categories.
