1. Don’t blame President Buhari for your failures – Presidency tells Jonathan

The Presidency have refuted claims by former President Goodluck Jonathan that that incidence of corruption in the country has increased during the regime of President Buhari, compared to his government.

The presidency, in a press statement by the Special Adviser to President Muhammadu Buhari on Media and Publicity, Malam Garba Shehu, said that the president has achieved a lot in his fight against corruption.

2. Senate adjourns plenary over death of 44 soldiers

The Senate on Thursday, adjourned plenary earlier than expected to honour the 44 soldiers, who lost their lives while fighting Boko Haram insurgents.

Senator Bala Na’allah revealed on the floor of the senate, how Boko Haram terrorists invaded a town and allegedly killed 44 soldiers, which included his cousin.

3. Manir Dan-Iya approved as new Sokoto state deputy governor

The Sokoto State House of Assembly has confirmed the appointment of Alhaji Manir Dan-Iya as the new Deputy Governor of the state.

This followed the adoption of a motion by the Deputy Majority Leader Alhaji Ibrahim Sarki at plenary after the nomination letter sent in by Gov. Aminu Tambuwal.

4. Pirates hijack Jonathan’s new book, release electronic copies

It is an unexpected blow to former President Goodluck Jonathan as his new book titled, ‘My Transition Hours’ has been hijacked by pirates.

Soft copies of the new book have been shared several times on social media platforms and the electronic copy has reportedly been edited to suit purposes of the pirates.

5. Buhari, Atiku, others to hold presidential debate by December 2018

As the build up to the 2019 presidential elections gather speed, the Nigerian Election Debate Group has announced December 14, 2018 for a debate for presidential candidates.

The debate will accommodate candidates of different political parties taking part in the 2019 elections.

The session for the vice presidential candidates is billed to take place on January 19, 2019.

6. National Assembly promises to give accelerated passage to minimum wage bill

The House of Representatives Committee on Labour, Employment and Productivity, on Thursday, said the National Assembly would give the minimum wage bill accelerated hearing and passage.

The Chairman of the committee, Rep Ezenwa Onyewuchi, made the remark in an interview with newsmen in Abuja.

7. Two House of Rep members dump APC again

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has just lost two of its members in the House of Representatives who dumped the party on Thursday.

The concerned lawmakers are Ahmed Abu (Niger State) and Stephen Olemija (Ondo State) who both announced their defections to the Social Democratic Party and the Action Alliance, respectively.

8. NEMA says House of Reps report against it contain lies

The National Emergency Management Agency has reacted to the claim by the House of Representatives that it mismanaged a sum of N33bn.

In its reaction on Monday, NEMA boss, Mustapha Maihaja said the house investigative committee added transactions that were not done by NEMA to get the N33bn figure.

9. Jonathan left out important details on Chibok girls in his book – Shettima

Kashim Shettima, governor of Borno state, has described the book by the former President Goodluck Jonathan as a presidential tale by midday”, adding that he deliberately omitted facts about the abduction of Chibok girls.

In a statement on Wednesday by Isa Gusau, special adviser on communications and strategy to Governor, Shettima, he said the former president attempted to sweep under the carpet a report submitted to him by an investigative committee in June 2014 about the abduction of April 2014.

10. Saraki calls for investigation into Michael Adikwu’s death

Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki, has said he had been vindicated, following the announcement of the death of Michael Adikwu, the principal suspect in the Offa Bank armed robbery attack, in Police custody.

He, therefore, called on the presidency to probe the death of Adikwu “so as to know how and when the suspect died”.
