Tambuwal Nominates New Deputy Governor For Sokoto State

Governor Aminu Tambuwal of Sokoto state has sent a letter containing the name of Manir Dan Iya for confirmation as new Deputy Governor of the state.

According to the letter, “ following the vacuum created in the office of the Deputy Governor by the voluntary resignation of the former holder, Alhaji Ahmed Aliyu Sokoto.

” I wish to nominate, Honourable Manir Dan-Iya as the state Deputy Governor in accordance with the provisions of Sec 191(3)(c) of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, for approval of the house of assembly,” he added.

The lawmakers however unanimously agree to screen the candidate come November 22, the next legislative day.

Naija News also learnt that the speaker Alh Salihu Maidaji who presided over the sitting directed the clerk of the house to send an invitation letter to the nominee to appear before the house tomorrow for screening.

As earlier reported, Ahmed Aliyu former deputy to Tambuwal will be contesting against Tambuwal on the paltform of APC  for the governorship of Sokoto in the 2019 general election; a reason analysts say is responsible for his resignation that paved the way for Manir Dan’Iya.
