Breaking: INEC To Hold FCT, State Governorship And House Of Assembly Elections On March 2

Prof Mahmood Yakubu, chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, has revealed that the Area Council elections in FCT as well as the governorship and state Assembly elections, will hold on March 2, 2019.

The INEC boss made the disclosure during a meeting with Resident Electoral Commissioners at the Commission’s Conference Room, INEC Headquarters, Abuja, on Wednesday.

He further stated that the the personal details of the Chairmanship and Councilorship candidates that seek to represent them for each of the 68 Constituencies in FCT would be pasted at the INEC FCT office as from Wednesday 21st November 2018 (today).

“As Nigerians are aware, the Area Council elections in FCT will hold on 2nd March 2019 along with the Governorship and State Assembly elections. Party primaries for the Area Council elections ended on 27th October 2018.”

“The last day for the submission of nomination forms was 4th November 2018. The list of candidates for elections will be published in our FCT office as well as the 6 Area Councils today Wednesday 21st November 2018.”

“The Commission appeals to citizens to check the personal details of the Chairmanship and Councilorship candidates that seek to represent them for each of the 68 Constituencies as a matter of Civic responsibility,” the statement reads.
