1. Atiku unveils policy document for 2019 presidential campaign

Atiku Abubakar, presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, on Monday, officially unveiled his plans for Nigeria if elected President in 2019.

Atiku in a live Facebook broadcast, assured Nigerians on how he plans to get the country working again.

2. Court stops Daily Nigerian from further publishing Ganduje bribery videos

A Kano high court has granted an interim injunction sought by Abdullahi Ganduje, Kano state governor, restraining Daily Nigerian Newspaper and Jafaar Jafaar, its publisher, from publishing videos about him.

The news platform had published videos showing Ganduje allegedly collecting kickbacks from contractors handling projects in the state.

3. APC sets up reconciliation committee over party primaries

The All Progressives Congress (APC)’s National working committee (NWC) has set up six reconciliation committees to quell the wounds faced by the party in the recent primary elections.

Each committee was set up on geopolitical basis and will have seven members, including the governors elected on the platform of the party, except the three aggrieved governors.

4. Judge orders Dasuki’s trial in absentia

Justice Ahmed Rahmat Mohammed has ordered the former National Security Adviser, Col Sambo Dasuki be prosecuted in absentia by the Federal Government following his resolve not to appear in court for further proceedings.

The judge invoked section 352 (4) of the Administration of Criminal Justice Act (ACJA) to issue the order at the resumed trial in Abuja in which Dasuki was absent in court.

5. Buhari meets governors, ministers over minimum wage

President Muhammadu Buhari on Monday, met with a delegation of the Nigeria Governors Forum (NGF) at the State House Villa, Abuja over the new minimum wage for Nigerian workers.

Recall that the tripartite panel on the new minimum wage chaired by a former Head of Service, Amal Pepple had weeks ago, recommended N30,000 as the country’s new national minimum wage.

6. Thugs attack Akwa Ibom state house of assembly

Thugs on Monday morning, invaded the Akwa Ibom state house of assembly, reportedly preventing lawmakers from gaining access into the assembly premises.

The events may not be unconnected with a federal high court order which declared the seat of Idongesit Ituen, member representing Itu constituency vacant.

7. Buruji Kashamu emerges Ogun state PDP governorship candidate

The Senator representing Ogun East Senatorial District at the National Assembly, Buruji Kashamu has replaced Adeleke Shittu as the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for next years elections.

Shittu whose name was pasted alongside other governorship candidates of 38 political parties by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), “voluntarily withdrew” from the race for Kashamu.

8. EFCC reveals why it can’t prosecute Adams Oshiomhole

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has given reasons for its inability to arrest and prosecute APC national chairman, Adams Oshiomhole.

The anti-graft agency is challenging the jurisdiction of the Federal High Court in Abuja to compel it to arrest and prosecute Oshiomhole, over allegation that he diverted public funds to his personal use while in office as governor of Edo state.

9. Governors refuse to give details of minimum wage discussion with President Buhari

President Muhammadu Buhari on Monday, had a closed door meeting with state governors over the proposed N30,000 minimum wage.

The governors, after the meeting, left the presidential villa without revealing the outcome of their meeting with the president to the press.

10. Media personality, Tosyn Bucknor is dead

Oluwatosin Bucknor, popularly known as Tosyn Bucknor, a Nigerian media personality, actress and social media content creator is dead.

Reports say she was found dead by her French husband late last night.
