1. President Buhari launches APC road map for 2019 elections

President Muhammadu Buhari has on Sunday, launched the All Progressives Congress, APC, Road Map for 2019 Campaign, tagged “NEXT LEVEL.”

This is in accordance with the Independent National Electoral Commission’s regulation for campaigns for the 2019 elections.

2. INEC confirms Tambuwal as PDP governorship candidate for Sokoto state

The governor of Sokoto State, Aminu Tambuwal has been confirmed as the People Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate for the state.

The national commissioner and chairman, information and voter education, Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Festus Okoye, made this confirmation in an interview.

3. APC defeats PDP in Kwara bye-election

The candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Raheem Olawuyi, was on Saturday declared the winner of the Ekiti/Irepodun/Isin/Oke-Ero Federal Constituency bye-election held across the four councils in Kwara.

The Returning Officer for the election, Prof. Abimbola Adesoji, while declaring the result at the Irepodun Local Government Secretariat in Omu-Aran, said Olawuyi polled 21, 236 to emerge winner.

4. Evans the kidnapper claims police locked him up in the toilet and tortured him to give confessional statement.

Chukwudumeme Onwuamadike, alias Evans, the suspected billionaire kidnapper, has maintained that he was tortured by police to make his confessional statement.

He countered the claim by the police that his statement was obtained under a fair atmosphere and that the statement could have been taken in the presence of a lawyer, if Evans had hired one.

5. Atiku to kick start campaign with ‘people policy’ launch

The Presidential Candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar will begin his campaign for president in the 2019 election with an address to the Nigerian people on Facebook at 12 noon on Monday where he will launch his policy document.

This development was made known by the Spokesperson of the Former Vice President’s campaign organization, Paul Ibe, on Saturday in Abuja.

6. INEC okays start of campaign for presidential and NASS election

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has on Sunday, lifted the ban on campaign for 2019 presidential and National Assembly elections slated for February 16, 2019.

With this development, campaigns by political parties towards the 2019 presidential and NASS elections have officially kicked off.

7. Saraki denies viral audio on helping Buhari in 2015

Olu Onemola, the Special Assistant on New Media to Senate President, Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki, has stated that the fake audio recording released by online henchmen and mercenary influencers is a doctored audio file meant to mislead the public.

In a series of tweets on his handle (@OnemolaOlu) Onemola stated that the Senate President has previously reiterated the reasons why he left APC, hence, the fake recording was the work of desperate politicians.

8. Presidency reportedly queried embattled NEMA DG, Maijaja

Indications have emerged on Sunday that the presidency had queried the embattled and indicted Director General of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) Mustapha Maihaja over fraud, corruption and embezzlement of billions of Naira illegally expended by the agency last year.

The report also claimed that the query and the report of the Independent Corrupt Practices and other related Offences Commission (ICPC) were not made public as some powerful forces within the presidency covered it up ostensibly to protect Maihaja.

9. I am not guilty of $80m bribery allegation, Oshiomhole tells Buhari

The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Adams Oshiomhole, has dismissed allegations that he collected bribes of about $80 million to manipulate the outcome of the party primaries in some states and FCT.

The party chairman spoke Friday night after meeting President Muhammadu Buhari.

10. PDP rejects result of Kwara Bye Election

The Kwara State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party ( PDP ) has called to question the outcome of the House Representatives bye-election in Ekiti/Oke-Ero/Isin/Irepodun Fderal constituency election, describing it as a daytime robbery.

The party alleged that its supporters and members were harassed and intimidated during the poll, adding that election did not reflect the will of the people.
