Eko Atlantic City Faults Davido’s Claim, Says He Didn’t Provide Needed Requirement

Eko Atlantic City has refuted the claim by Davido, that the city refused to grant him approval to hold his upcoming concert in the city, due to his political affiliations.

Eko Atlantic, on it twitter handle @EkoAtlantic, stated that they got Davido’s request last Thursday, after which, he was asked to provide clarification and details about the event.

Eko Atlantic stated that they were yet to receive response to their request for details.

Part of their statement read, “Subsequently we are yet to receive the requested information so the notion we declined his request is false!

“Some of the additional information requested was pertaining to security provisions as Eko Atlantic is not an event centre and rather a city with existing residents and businesses.

“In light of this, we have strict rules and regulations when it comes to events and activities within the city which require due process.

“To imply, we are politically motivated cannot be further from the truth!

“We expect the same safety and security measures from event organizers who hold events in Eko Atlantic City. Any event within the city requires a proper level of planning, safety, and security from event organisers.

“As a final note, Davido and some of his upcoming artists shot a video in EkoAtlantic earlier this year which we welcomed as we believe in the development of our entertainment industry in Nigeria as seen on our social media.”

Davido had on Tuesday taken to his Twitter handle @iam_Davido to share swear words-laden tweets, alleging that he was denied approval to use the Eko Atlantic for his concert coming up in December.

The artist alleged that the refusal of his request was due to his political stance, he stated however that his political ideology will not change as a result of the disappointment.

He, however, said the concert would hold and promised to announce a new venue.
