INEC Publishes Tonye Cole’s Name As APC Governorship Candidate In Rivers State

Ahead of the 2019 general election, the expectation of Senator Magnus Abe to become the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress, in Rivers State has been put to an end.

The decision was revealed after the Independent National Electoral Commission, released the list of governorship candidates for the 2019 election in the state.

Tonye Cole who was put forward by the Minister of Transport, Rotimi Amaechi, was the recognized governorship candidate for the party in the state, in the list pasted at INEC office in Port Harcourt.

Victor Giadom, the Deputy National Secretary of the APC, was also on the list as the running mate for Tonye Cole. Recall that the candidacy of Tonye and his running mate Victor Giadom, were products of an indirect primary election.

Other governorship candidates in the list are the present Governor of the state, Nyesom Wike and his running mate, Dr (Mrs) Ipalibo Harry for the Peoples Democratic Party.

Other shortlisted governorship candidates from other political parties in the State are: Elem Chinweike for Hope Democratic Party, HDP, Joseph Princewill for MPN, Tamunopriala Jumbo for PDC, Ngoye Benebo for UPN, and Kukang Barine for APM.
