The governor of Ogun State, Ibikunle Amosun, request has fall on the deaf ears of the National Working Committee of the All Progressives Congress, to replace the name of Dapo Abiodun, with his preferred candidate, Adekunle Akinlade, as the governorship candidate of the party in the 2019 elections.

The governorship candidates list that was released by the Independent National Electoral Commission on Friday, November, 9, 2018, in Abeokuta, Abiodun was listed as the candidate of the party in the governorship election.

With controversies surrounding the party’s decision on who will be its governorship candidate in the state, INEC’s decision will put to rest disagreement within the party’s leadership.

Further facts revealed has it that the 26 candidates vying for Ogun State House of Assembly that were backed by Amosun were missing on the list of the assembly candidates.

A serving member in House of Representative, Oladipopu Adebutu lost the governorship ticket to Shittu Adeleke in the Peoples Democratic Party.

Also on the list of 39 candidates from various political parties are, former Speaker of House of Representatives, Dimeji Bankole as flag bearer of the Action Democratic Party (ADP) and a two-time governorship candidate, Gboyega Nasiru Isiaka who now flies the ticket of the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
