President Buhari Is For The ‘Select’ Few, Atiku Abubakar Is For All Nigerians

The Campaign Organisation of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) Presidential Candidate, Atiku Abubakar has reacted to the statement by President Muhammadu Buhari dismissing the endorsement of the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, by the South East.

The Organisation in a statement made available to newsmen in Abuja on Saturday, through its spokesperson, Paul Ibe,described the president as a decisive leader, adding that his desperation was not surprising.

The Organisation alleged that President Buhari, while meeting with a group of southeast ‘leaders’ on Friday November 16, 2018, poured scorn on the leaders and people of the Southeast geopolitical zone who gave the endorsement.

The statement reads: “We recall, with great sadness, that when he was invited to speak at the United States Institute for Peace on July 22, 2015, President Buhari said “the constituents, for example, gave me 97% cannot in all honesty be treated on some issues with constituencies that gave me 5%.”.

“Three years after making that statement, President Buhari has shown that he has not changed. Even his meeting was with a “select group of south-east leaders”. Nigerians should compare the President’s meeting with Atiku Abubakar’s meeting of Wednesday 14, 2018.

“Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar did not meet with a “select group of south-east leaders”. The PDP Presidential candidate met the entire leadership of the Southeast cutting across political, religious, social and economic lines. He did not pick and choose. He did not ‘select’. He embraced everyone, because Atiku Abubakar is for ALL Nigerians, ALL the time.

“At the said event, President Buhari also said “we will not get tired of speaking about the golden opportunity Nigeria lost during 16 years of the PDP”.

“We want to remind the President that under the PDP, Nigeria was rated the happiest nation on earth, by Gallup Polls and other rating agencies, not once, but twice. Alas, under President Buhari’s administration, Nigeria has officially been named as the world headquarters for extreme poverty not once, but twice. Once by the World Poverty Clock and then again by the World Economic Forum.

“Moreover, most major infrastructure that Nigerians are enjoying today, including the only federal university in President Buhari’s home state, the Abuja-Kaduna railways, Olorunshogo, Afam and Papalanto power plants, the revived national railway and the Total Radar Coverage of Nigeria which has eliminated frequent plane crashes, were all built by PDP administrations.

“The President is also reminded that when Atiku Abubakar headed the National Economic Council that paid off Nigeria’s entire foreign debt, under the able leadership of President Olusegun Obasanjo, Nigerian crude oil sold for precisely one third of what is is selling for today.

“President Obasanjo and then Vice President Atiku Abubakar simply paid off the debts piled up by past military administrations, including Buhari’s draconian military dictatorship, without complaining of blaming.

“Sadly, President Buhari is not aware of the basic rudiments of leadership, which is that when the government starts blaming the opposition for its own failure to perform, it is an admission that the government has failed.

“Atiku Abubakar will not stoop so low to blame others for things he is meant to fix. Atiku means JOBS for Nigerians, not blame for Nigerians. This is a message we urge all Nigerians to internalise as we call on citizens to join the Let’s Get Nigeria Working Again Movement”

Your 8 Years Tenure Was A Disaster – PDP Tells Aregbesola

The Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP) has described the 8 years tenure of the outgoing governor of Osun State Governor Rauf Aregbesola, has a monumental failure.

It argued that the governor will go down in history of the state as the worst since the return of democratic rule in 1999.

PDP said that the people should not be deceived by the charade of programmes Aregbesola claims he embarked on, as it insist that “Aregbesola is leaving the state worse than how he met it in 2010”.

Hon. Soji Adagunodo, the chairman of the Osun State chapter of the PDP made this known in a statement he signed and made available to newsmen in Osogbo, the Osun State capital.

Speaking on where he scored himself high during an all night interaction tagged “Ogbeni Till Day Break” on Friday, PDP said such self glorification was childish and a total farce.

According to the party, “There is no better indication of the governor’s failure than the dysfunctional educational system, comatose healthcare, gargantuan debt, deplorable road, abysmal water infrastructure and several other negatives which the governor is bequething to his successor.

“It is already on record that it is during the tenure of Ogbeni Aregbesola that Osun was ranked by BUDGIT as one of the four most indebted States and the least fiscally responsible state in Nigeria.

“It was during these same years that the state found itself on the lowest rung of performance of students in public examinations; a situation which made us a laughing stock even among states hitherto considered educationally disadvantaged in Nigeria.

“Human life and development had never been this compromised as Medical doctors, health workers, lecturers, and civil servants embarked on strikes for a cumulative period of not less than 3 and a half years during Aregbesola’s administration.”

PDP also took on Aregbesola over his claim that he had built more roads than previous governors, saying there were more death traps than motorable roads, as it cited township roads in Ejigbo, Iwo, Ede, Ikirun, Ila Orangun, Ilobu among others.

The road from Osogbo through Iwo to Ibadan which the governor boasted would be rehabilitated by Julius Berger in 2012 was never started and must today rank among the worst roads in Nigeria.

“It is similarly on record that a recent survey by an international organisation ranked Osun as one of the 3 dirtiest states in Nigeria. This is in spite of the billions of Naira siphoned by Local and State government officials in the guise of environmental sanitation.

“Our party notes that while Osun is very happy that the reign of Ogbeni Aregbesola is coming to an end, the people are rather sad at the legacy of impunity and fraud that Mr Governor and his party introduced to our political landscape as exemplified in the September 22nd and 27th governorship election in Osun State. It is one ugly legacy which has put the name of our dear state on the dark spot of political discourse within and outside Nigeria.

“However, our hope is in the judiciary to do justice and restore the mandate freely given to Senator Nurudeen Ademola Adeleke as the rightful successor to Ogbeni Aregbesola; the PDP hereby joins the people of Osun State to keep on praying that the inglorious reign of the APC would soon be terminated and a new lease of prosperous life be injected into the State of the living spring”, the statement said.

Kwara Bye-Election: Outcome Daylight Robbery -PDP

The Kwara State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party ( PDP ) has called to question the outcome of the House Representatives bye-election in Ekiti/Oke-Ero/Isin/Irepodun Fderal constituency election, describing it has a daytime robbery.

The party alleged that it supporters and members harassed and intimidated during the poll, adding that election did not reflect the will of the people.

The election, which the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate Raheem Tunji Olawuyi, was also described by the state chairman of the PDP, Engr. Kola Shittu as a charade and direct assault on the nation’s democracy.

Shittu noted that some of the concerns raised by the party prior to the conduct of the election, which included alleged importation of thugs and heavy deployment of security personnel later manifested during the poll.

He alleged that the sanity of democracy in the election was destroyed as their were box snatching, widespread irregularities and illegal arrest of members of the PDP before and while the election was on going.

While calling for the cancellation of the election, Shittu stated that the people of the constituency have been cheated out of their right to choose their representative in the house of assembly.

According to him, the election represented was an indication that the APC led federal government was not ready to deliver free, fair and credible elections in 2019.

“The PDP condemns in strong terms the conduct of the bye-election also rejects its outcome, as it does not reflect the will of the people of Ekiti, Oke-Ero, Isin and Irepodun Local Government Areas.

“The announcement of the candidate of the APC, Raheem Olawuyi as the winner of the election by the Independent National Electoral Commission is a daylight robbery, subversion of the will of the people and direct assault on the nation’s democracy.

“Indeed, the election was a contest between the PDP and the security agents, as they both collaborated with the enemies of democracy, APC, to manipulate the electoral process and stole the mandate of the people”, Shittu said.
