DSS Grill Adams Oshiomhole For Nine Hours – News Source

National chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Adams Oshiomhole was arrested and detained on Sunday by the Department of State Services (DSS) TheCable reports.

He has however since regained his freedom.

The News platform said that Oshiomhole, during his time in the custody of the DSS, was grilled for up to nine hours after some APC governors alleged that he received bribes during the party’s primary elections across the country.

Sources also revealed that Oshiomhole was asked to resign his position as APC national chairman during the interrogation by the DSS.

Oshiomhole however, reportedly refused to resign, saying he would only do so if he loses the confidence of President Muhammadu Buhari.

“Adams Oshiomhole was arrested by the DSS, they didn’t show him any petition. It was alleged by some governors that he collected bribe during the primaries,” the source said.

“He was told to resign and he told DSS operatives that he will resign if he loses the confidence of the president. He said everything the party did, he (Buhari) was in the know.”

Another source said the president, when he learnt of the development, expressed total shock, claiming to be unaware of the move by the aggrieved governors.

“On Monday night Oshiomhole met with the president and briefed him on what happened and the president was shocked. The president said he did not know about it and promised to look into it,” the source said.

Naija News recalls that the APC primaries were marred by several controversies in some states.

Most publicised are the Zamfara, Imo and Ogun primaries, with Rochas Okorocha of Imo state and Ibikunle Amosun of Ogun not satisfied with the result of APC primaries in their respective states.

In Zamfara, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) said the party will not participate in the 2019 polls because it could not successfully conclude its primary before the deadline.
