1. Governors insist they can’t pay more than N22,500 as new minimum wage

After prolonged deliberation, the Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF) has pegged the national minimum wage at N22,500 from the existing N18,000.

Governor Abdul’aziz Yari, the chairman of the forum, and governor of Zamfara state made this disclosure at the end of its 2nd emergency meeting held in Abuja.

2. Army takes delivery of large cargo oaf arms to fight Boko Haram

The Nigerian Army has announced that it has taken delivery of a large cargo of ammunition to enhance its operational capabilities and combat efficiency.

The Army, on it twitter handle, displaying the photographs of the ammunition received and the plane that brought the consignment.

3. Again, Police and Shiites clash in Abuja

No fewer than 400 members of Islamic Movement of Nigeria (IMN), also known as Shi’ites have been arrested by the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command, in connection with Tuesday’s violent protest in the territory.

Mr Bala Ciroma, the Commissioner of Police in the FCT, revealed this when he presented the suspects to the media at the command’s headquarters in Abuja on Tuesday.

4. President Buhari visits Kaduna, vows to bring perpetrators of violence to justice

President Muhammadu Buhari has said his government will take “strongest measures” possible to punish perpetrators of the recent killings in Kaduna state.

Mr Buhari during his visit to the state today expressed sadness at the loss of lives and property in Kasuwan Magani and the unrest around Kaduna metropolis, demanding an end to wanton killings.

5. NLC holds nationwide protest over minimum wage payment

The Nationwide workers’ protest declared by the organized labour over the new minimum wage has been complied with in states across the country.

Workers are requesting for N30,000 to be adopted as the new minimum wage while the federal government is proposing N24,000 and the state governors want N20,000.

6. NNPC denies plan to increase fuel price

The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) has declared it has no plans to increase pump prices of petroleum products, especially petrol.

The corporation disclosed this in a statement signed by its spokesman, Ndu Ughamadu, on Tuesday.

7. Army says 3 shiite members were killed during clash with soldiers

The Nigerian Army has confirmed that three members of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria (IMN) were killed after they attacked troops deployed to a checkpoint at Kugbo/Karu bridge in Abuja.

The army, in a statement on Tuesday, said four soldiers were wounded in the clash which took place on Monday.

8. President Buhari meets aggrieved APC aspirants in Abuja

Some aggrieved aspirants of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the just concluded party’s primaries across the country have met with President Muhammadu Buhari, on Tuesday at the Presidential Villa.

Those in attendance at the dinner included aggrieved gubernatorial, National and State Assembly aspirants who failed to secure the party’s tickets in the forthcoming 2019 general elections.

9. IGP orders police to deal with shiite members

The Inspector General of Police, Mr Ibrahim Idris has placed all Commissioners of Police on red alert over the activities of members of the Islamic Movement of Nigeria (IMN).

A statement by the Police Force spokesman, acting DCP Jimoh Moshood on Tuesday in Abuja, said that the commissioners, especially those facing likely threats by the Shiites, to deal with them decisively in accordance with the law.

10. Donald Trump moves to stop US citizenship for children of non-citizens born in the country

This is definitely a blow for many across the world as Donald Trump has announced he is going to terminate the right to citizenship for babies born on US soil to non-citizens.

The US president, who is taking an increasingly hard-line stance on immigration, said the “process” to end birthright citizenship by executive order is underway.
