IMN Says It Has No Plan To Attack The National Assembly Complex

The Islamic Movement in Nigeria (IMN) has debunked the rumours that it was planning  to carry out an attack on the National Assembly in Abuja.

The IMN also known as Shiites also alleged plans by the Nigerian Army to kill more of their members as they embark on the annual Arbaeen Symbolic Trek.

In a statement by the Secretary of the Academic Forum of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria, Engr. Abdullahi Muhammad Musa, today, the group alleged that the army killed six of their members in an attack at Zuba.

“Due to the fact that for several occasions the Army made attempts to attack us yesterday, make us to believe that the attack at Zuba is a planned attack,” the statement reads.

“We are aware that the Military want to attack us due to a baseless allegation that the followers of Sheikh Zakzaky will invade National Assembly. Hence, I wish to state it for the second time that we have no plan to invade any government office or attack anybody.

“Despite the killing and intimidation by the Military, we will continue to observe our religious beliefs and demand for unconditional release of our leader, Sheikh Ibraheem Zakzaky and his wife.”

The military had also alleged that the IMN attacked its personnel in Zuba on Saturday while carrying out their annual Arbaeen Symbolic Trek.
