1. President Buhari commissions new international terminal in Port Hacourt airport

President Muhammadu Buhari on Thursday in Rivers State, inaugurated the new international terminal at the Port Harcourt International Airport.

The President arrived at the state capital, Port Harcourt around 12:20 pm for the event which had top government functionaries including the Minister of State for Aviation, Hadi Sirika, in attendance.

2. Powerful cabal preventing dredging of river Niger – Dogara

Efforts by successive administrations to implement the national transport master plan that will see to the dredging of Nigeria’s inland water ways could not be achieved because some powerful interests are opposed to it, Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon Yakubu Dogara, has said.

Speaking when he received the Managing Director of National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA) Senator Adeleke Olurunnimbe Mamora in his office.

3. Jafar confirms authenticity of video showing Kano governor receiving bribe

The Publisher of the online Daily Nigerian newspaper, Jaafar Jaafar, has appeared before lawmakers at the Kano State House of Assembly investigating the bribery allegation against Kano State Governor Abdullahi Ganduje.

Jafar, during his time with the lawmakers, confirmed the authenticity of the video allegation and also presented material evidence, a hard disk, and other materials as evidence.

4. FG denies trying to prevent labour from operating in the country

The Federal Government has restated its pledge not to restrain the activities of organised labour in the country, promising that it would continue to engage them in dialogue.

Dr Chris Ngige, the Minister of Labour and Employment, spoke in Abuja, when a delegation of the organisation of African Trade Union Unity (OATUU), paid him a courtesy visit.

5. Minimum wage: NLC threatens nationwide indefinite strike action

The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has formally informed the Federal Government that its members will begin an indefinite national strike from November 6, except the payment of N30,000 as new national minimum wage is adopted.

It accused Minister of Labour Senator Chris Ngige of feeding the public with half-truth about the work of the tripartite committee on the new National Minimum Wage.

6. UN returns to Abuja office, 8 years after Boko Haram attack

The United Nations has announced its intended return to its edifice in Abuja, Nigeria, eight years after it was bombed by Boko Haram insurgents.

The UN Resident Coordinator, Edward Kallon made the announcement at the celebration of the 73rd UN Day on Wednesday in Abuja.

7. Police declare 8 wanted in connection with missing Nigerian Army general

The Plateau State Police Command has declared wanted some suspects following the continued disappearance of former Chief of Administration (Nigerian Army), Major General Idris M Alkali (Rtd).

Alkali was declared missing since September 3, 2018.

8. Buratai flags off operation crocodile smile in Calabar

The Chief of Army Staff(COAS) Nigerian Army (NA), Lieutenant General Tukur Yusuf Buratai has flaged off a Command Post and Field Training Exercise code named Exercise CROCODILE SMILE 111 in 13 Brigade Area of Operational Responsibility – (Calabar, Cross River State).

The flag off ceremony was conducted at Ikang Forward Operation Base, Ikang, Bakassi Local Local Area of Cross Rivers State by His Excellency, the Governor of Cross Rivers State, Senator Professor Ben Ayade who was the Special Guest of Honour at the occasion.

9. Protesters demand justice for 13 year old girl raped to death by father and son

Protesters have stormed the ministry of justice in Abuja over the death of Ochanya Elizabeth Ogbanje, a 13 years old girl allegedly raped by a father and son in Gboko, Benue State.

The protesters, dressed in black t-shirts, consisted of human rights activists, civil society organisations and students marched to the ministry to demand that those who perpetrated the act are brought to book.

10. International red cross society promises to continue humanitarian work in Nigeria

The International Committee of Red Cross (ICRC) has said the killings of its aid workers by Boko Haram insurgents will not stop the organisation from rendering its services to Nigeria.

Patricia Danzi, ICRC Regional Director for Africa said this while speaking to newsmen in Maiduguri while commiserating with the families of Saifura Khorsa and Hauwa Liman, two of the aid workers killed by Boko Haram insurgents in Borno.
