The Governor of Ekiti State, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, has approved the immediate retirement of the Permanent Secretary, Office of Establishments and Training in the state’s civil service, Olusesan Alabi.
Despite the warning against further recruitment by the present Governor of state, it was gathered that as at yesterday, Alabi still issued letters of employment to some of the candidates interviewed for employment in the closing days of the Fayose Administration.
A source revealed
“It was as if all the Governor told the top civil servants fell on Alabi’s deaf ears as he went on issuing letters of employment. “Even today, he still issued letters, leading to his immediate sack.”
Fayemi had before his inauguration warned against the hiring of workers by the Fayose Administration.
The outgone administration was owing salaries as at when it left office, with workers at the local government on strike as it exited. The workers only called off their strike on Sunday.
Fayose had in response to Fayemi’s directive that workers should not be engaged, accused the incumbent of having done the same shortly before handing over to him four years ago.
