85 Year Old Paul Biya Wins 7th Term As Cameroonian President

Paul Biya has been re-elected as the president of Cameroon for another term of seven years in office.

According to Clement Atangana who declared the results on Monday, Biya won 71.3 % of votes to return as President of the West African country.

Opposition candidate, Maurice Kamto came second with 14.2 percent.

The opposition party have however, called for a re-run of the presidential election, but the Constitutional Council rejected the call last week.

Riot police were deployed on Sunday to the major cities of Yaoundé and Douala in case of opposition protests, BBC reported.

President Biya has been in power since 1982.
