1. President Buhari meets security chiefs behind closed doors
President Muhammadu Buhari on Thursday, met behind closed doors with security chiefs at his office in the presidential villa in Abuja.
The security chiefs alleged some politicians are stockpiling arms ahead of the 2019 general elections.
2. Kaduna state government imposes 24-hour curfew on community
The Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, has imposed a 24 hour curfew on the Kasuwan Magani community, situated in Kajuru Local Government Area of the state.
The notice of the curfew was signed by the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Media and Publicity, Samuel Aruwan.
3. Lagos lawmakers dare Ambode, order PSP workers to resume work
The Lagos state house of assembly has asked private sector partnership (PSP) operators to resume refuse collection and disposal without Governor Akinwunmi Ambode‘s consent.
Ambode had stopped the PSP operators last year as he introduced the Cleaner Lagos Initiative, through the Visionscape Sanitation Solution Limited.
4. Senate suspends consideration of electoral bill
The Senate on Thursday, suspended consideration of the Electoral Act (Amendment) Bill, 2018 for third reading and passage, until Tuesday.
The bill, which was captured on the Order Paper, was suspended at plenary for more legislative work by the committee in charge.
5. Bindow emerges Adamawa APC governorship candidate
After a contended and keenly contested governorship primaries in Adamawa state, Governor Muhammed Umaru Bindow has been confirmed as the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress for the 2019 elections.
The Oserheimen Osumbor led Primary Elections Appeal Panel had dismissed the petitions and declared the incumbent governor, Bindow as the winner in the contest.
6. NHIS boss, suspended again by board of governors
The governing board of the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS), has suspended Usman Yusuf indefinitely as the executive secretary of the scheme.
The Chairman of the NHIS board, Dr Enyantu Ifenne, accused Yusuf of insubordination, fraud, arbitrariness and other corrupt practices.
7. PDP includes Saraki’s name on list of candidates submitted to INEC
The Peoples Democratic Party has sent the name of the President of the Senate, Senator Bukola Saraki, to the Independent National Electoral Commission as a senatorial candidate.
The name of Saraki was among the list of candidates submitted to the commission in Abuja on Thursday night.
8. Governors say they can’t pay N24,000 as new minimum wage
The Nigerian Governors Forum says it is not against the upward review of the national minimum wage as been peddled in certain quarters.
The Chairman of the Forum, Governor Abdulaziz Yari of Zamfara State, however said the governors were worried they may not be able to afford paying N24,000 as the new minimum wage.
9. Labour rejects FG’s no work, no pay policy
The Nigerian Labour Congress NLC has described Federal Government’s threat to activate the “no-work- no pay’’ rule clause, as a negation of workers’ right of association.
NLC President, Mr Ayuba Wabba, made this known while reacting to the Federal Executive Council’s approval to apply the `no work, no pay’ principle during strike.
10. Peter Obi agrees to having a house in London
Peter Obi, running mate to the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the 2019 election, has insisted that there was no time he claimed that he had no house in London.
According to Valentine Obienyem, his media aide, Obi bought his first house in London in 1987 before he became governor of Anambra State and were all duly declared.
