1. Fayose visits EFCC after tenure as governor expires

The immediate past governor of Ekiti state, Ayodele Fayose, has visited the Abuja office of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission.

Fayose entered into the EFCC office in Wuse 2 in the company of Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, and a former Minister of Aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode.

2. Archbishop of Canterbury denies visiting Buhari/Atiku for political reasons

The office of Justin Welby, Archbishop of Canterbury, has denied rumours that his meetings with President Muhammadu Buhari and Atiku Abubakar, presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), had a political undertone.

His spokesman, in a statement, said there are speculations that Welby made the visits for political reasons but further stated the Archbishop is neutral and does not do political endorsements.

3. Kayode Fayemi takes over as new Ekiti state governor

Mr. John Olukayode Fayemi, has been sworn-in as the Governor of Ekiti State. Fayemi succeeds Mr Ayodele Fayose.

The swearing-in programme was attended by notable Nigerians and chieftains of the All Progressives Congress as well as several APC governors.

4. Court gives go ahead for Kachikwu’s suspension and probe

The Federal High Court in Abuja has given a go ahead to a suit seeking the suspension and probe of Minister of State on Petroleum, Dr. Ibe Kachikwu.

A civil society group, Kingdom Rights Foundation International, had filed a suit on allegations of money laundering, operation of a foreign bank account, corruption and assets declaration irregularities against the Minister.

5. Buhari now pays premium, not subsidy on petroleum – Keyamo

The Director of Media of the Muhammadu Buhari Campaign Organisation, Festus Keyamo, has denied payment of subsidy on petroleum products by the federal government.

Mr Keyamo who made the revelation on a TV station interview programme, said the Nigerian government is paying for ‘premium’ on petroleum products and not subsidy.

6. Lawmakers seek urgent release of Leah Sharibu and other Boko Haram captives

The House of Representatives on Tuesday, called on the Federal Government to speed up efforts for the urgent release of Leah Sharibu, Alice Loksha, and others been held by Boko Haram terrorists before it is too late.

The resolution came on Tuesday after Monday’s execution of another aide worker, Hauwa Liman, by the insurgents.

7. Buhari speaks with Hauwa Liman’s father on phone

President Muhammadu Buhari has called Mohammed Liman, father of Hauwa Liman, the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) midwife who was slain by Boko Haram terrorists.

President Buhari expressed his condolence with the family and assured Miss Liman’s father that everything possible was done by the Nigerian government to free his daughter but they proved abortive.

8. Why Omisore’s name is not on Buhari’s travel ban list

Senator Iyiola Omisore, the Social Democratic Party, SDP candidate for the recently conducted Osun governorship election, has, on Tuesday said that no corruption case is currently being held against him in court by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

Omisore is reacting to claims by a Yoruba Youth Socio-Cultural Association that the politician’s name should have been included in the list of 50 prominent Nigerians, who were banned from travelling abroad.

9. Police plotting with APC to scuttle Osun election tribunal – Adeleke

Senator Ademola Adeleke of Osun State has accused the police of plotting with the ruling All Progressives Congress to prevent him from going ahead with the petition he is planning to file against the APC candidate, Gboyega Oyetola.

Adeleke who was the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in Osun State, said this in a statement while reacting to court’s order that the police should produce him and four others in court on October 31 for arraignment over the allegation of examination malpractices.

10. Nigeria beats Libya to go top of AFCON group E qualifiers

The Super Eagles have steadied their cruise to the African Nation Cup in 2019, as the team beat Libya, 3-2, to lead the group table ahead of South Africa.

The Super Eagles now have nine points, overtaking South Africa who played a goalless draw away at Seychelles earlier on Tuesday and now have eight points.
