1. Boko Haram kills another aid worker, threatens to keep Leah Sharibu as slave

Boko Haram terrorists have killed Hauwa Leman, an aid worker with the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC).

Leman is one of the three humanitarian workers abducted in Rann, Kala Balge local government area of Borno state on March 1. The terrorists also vowed to keep Leah Sharibu, the Dapchi schoolgirl, as “a slave for life”

2. FG arraigns Senator Adeleke, four others for exam malpractice

The Federal government has arraigned Senator Ademola Adeleke representing Osun West and four others before Justice I. E. Ekwo of the Federal High Court, Abuja on the charge of examination malpractice.

The names of the accused include Sikiru Adeleke, Alhaji Aregbesola Mufutau (Principal of the school), Gbadamosi Thomas Ojo (school Registrar) and Dare Samuel Olutope (teacher).

3. We did our best in stopping Boko Haram from killing Hauwa Leman – FG

The Federal government has condemned in strong terms the killing of Hauwa Leman, an aide worker with the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) by the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP), a faction of Boko Haram, on Monday.

The federal government described the execution of the aide worker as sad and shocking.

4. Governor Ganduje embattled as another bribery video allegation is released

Just yesterday, an online news platform in Nigeria, released another video accusing Governor of Kano State, Abdullahi Ganduje receiving bribe amounting to about $5million from contractors in the state.

While reacting to the allegation, the state government had claimed that the video was cloned and doctored, and had promised to press charges against the online news platform.

5. INEC insists APC will not field candidates in Zamfara election

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has insisted that the All Progressives Congress would not present candidates for elective positions in Zamfara state in 2019.

The All Progressives Congress (APC) through its National Publicity Secretary, Mallam Lanre Onilu however insisted the party would field candidates for election.

6. Adebayo Shittu sues INEC, NYSC, APC to court over disqualification from Oyo governorship race

The minister of communications, Adebayo Shittu, has taken the All Progressives Congress (APC), National Youth Service Corps and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to court for disqualifying him from the Oyo state governorship primaries.

He is challenging the disqualification at the Federal High Court in Abuja, in which he noted that it was wrong for the APC to disqualify him from contesting for the governorship ticket because of his non-participation in the National Youth Service Scheme (NYSC).

7. PDP accuses Presidency of planning to detain Fayose indefinitely

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has, on Monday, accused President Muhammadu Buhari of ordering the arrest and indefinite detention of the outgoing governor of Ekiti State, Ayodele Fayose.

The National Publicity Secretary of the People’s Democratic Party, Mr. Kola Ologbondiyan, in a statement, stated that the party has gotten wind of plans by the EFCC in compliance with the order of the Presidency to arrest and detain Fayose.

8. Saraki appointed as DG of Atiku’s presidential campaign

Senate President, Bukola Saraki has been appointed as the Director General of Atiku Abubakar’s Presidential Campaign Council.

Similarly, Sokoto State Governor, Aminu Tambuwal has been appointed as the Zonal Coordinator for North West while his counterpart, Ibrahim Dankwambo was appointed the Zonal Coordinator for North East.

9. Buhari yet to release names of those on travel ban list – Presidency

The presidency has denied releasing the names of Nigerians contained in President Muhammadu Buhari’s travel ban list.

Senior Special Assistant to President Buhari on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, said the Federal Government was yet to release the names of those that have been affected by the travel ban empowered by the Executive Order 6.

10. IG orders investigation into killings by police officers in Abuja

The Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, has ordered that the police officers involved in the incident that led to the death of Miss Anita Akapson at Katampe Extension, Abuja be detained and investigated.

The Police Chief’s instruction is contained in a press statement on Monday, 15th October by Ag. DCP Jimoh Moshood, Force Public Relations Officer.
