1. Obasanjo forgives Atiku, endorses him for president

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo, said he has reviewed his stance on not backing his former deputy, Atiku for the presidency of Nigeria.

Chief Obasanjo made this statement when Atiku Abubakar and leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party visited him at his Abeokuta home on Thursday.

2. I will not attend Fayemi’s inauguration – Fayose

Mr Ayodele Fayose, the outgoing governor of Ekiti State, has hinted that he may not honour invitation to attend the inauguration of Dr. Kayode Fayemi because of the erratic nature of politicians.

The governor added that he was booked for that day, as he had promised to report to the office of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on the same day the swearing-in will be happening.

3. Presidency publishes 64 achievements of Buhari administration

Lauretta Onochie, social media aide to President Muhammadu Buhari has listed sixty-four (64) achievements of the current administration in the agricultural sector.

This she did, following allegations of non-performance by the Atiku campaign organization of the  Buhari-led administration since he assumed office in 2015.

4. Ekiti state assembly impeach Speaker, Deputy Speaker

Members of the house of assembly in Ekiti state have on Thursday, removed the speaker, Kolawole Oluwawole, and Sina Animasahun, his deputy.

The house subsequently elected Adeniran Alagbada as new speaker while Segun Adewunmi, former deputy speaker, was reinstated.

5. Court approves Buhari’s executive order on seizure of asset linked to corruption

The Federal High Court in Abuja has upheld the validity of the Presidential Executive Order 6 which provides for the interim seizure of assets linked to ongoing criminal trials and investigations.

Two lawyers, Ikenga Ugochinyere and Keneth Udeze, had instituted a suit before the court to challenge its validity.

6. Okorocha loses as court affirms Uzodinma as Imo APC governorship candidate

Justice O. A Musa of the Federal High Court, Abuja on Wednesday declared Senator Hope Uzodinma as the authentic governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Imo state for the 2019 election.

Justice Musa ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to recognize only Uzodinma as Imo state gubernatorial candidate in the 2019 election.

7. Presidency says gang up can not stop Buhari’s victory in 2019

The Presidency has described former President Olusegun Obasanjo’s decision to support his former vice, Atiku Abubakar as a predictable U-turn and somersault.

The presidency claimed that it was the least surprised by the ‘well-rehearsed theatre‘ and claimed it won’t affect President Buhari’s chances in 2019.

8. Senate approves N234b INEC budget for 2019 elections

The Senate has approved the sum of N234.51 billion for the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to prosecute the 2019 general elections.

The legislators approved the amount during sitting at Thursday’s plenary.

9. NLC insists tripatriate committee has concluded work on new minimum wage

The Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC), has faulted the claims of the Federal Government that it had not reached an agreement on the national minimum wage with the labour leaders.

In a statement on Wednesday, jointly signed by the union leaders, Comrade Ayuba Wabba, Comrade Bala Bobboi Kaigama and Comrade Joe Ajaero, they insisted that the tripartite committee had concluded its work, contrary to the claims of the Federal Government.

10. Court warns Saraki to pay Senator Omo-Agege his entitlements

The Senate President, Bukola Saraki, has been warned by the Federal High Court on Thursday, over the imprisonment proceedings that was initiated against him by Senator Ovie Omo-Agege.

Omo-Agege had initiated the committal proceedings praying that Saraki be sent to prison as punishment for flouting the May 10 judgment of the court which ordered him (Omo-Agege) to be reinstated from illegal suspension and be paid all his accrued benefits for the period of the voided suspension.
