Flood victims in Kebbi State will some have some ease of life as the State Emergency Management Agency ( SEMA ) said it has purchased N200 worth of relief materials to for those affected by the disaster in the 21 local government areas of the state.

Alhaji Sani Dododo, the chairman of the agency made this known to newsmen on Wednesday in Birnin Kebbi.

“The recent flooding had affected communities in Dandi, Koko, Suru, Bagudo, Yauri, Ngaski and Shanga areas.” he said.

According to him, the materials, which will be distributed to victims starting from next week, will help the victims cope with the devastating effect of the flood.

He added that reported cases of flooding in the remaining 14 local government areas are being assessed by the agency.

We will set up a committee to ensure judicious distribution of the assistance.

” We will try to minimize the number of the committee members in order to ensure relative control and transparency in the distribution as we will not hesitate to take to court anyone found guilty of diverting the relief,” Dododo said.

NAN understands that the materials to be procured include, rice, millet, maize, guinea, cement, blankets, roofing sheets, mattresses and textile materials, among others.

The chairman appreciated the state government for releasing fund. He assured that those affected by the flood will be adequately attended to.
