1. President Buhari condemns latest Jos violence
President Muhammadu Buhari has spoken up against the latest violence in Jos which led to the lost of lives and the imposition of a curfew in the Plateau state capital.
The President stated that his administration has continued to make efforts to ensure that violence in the state and other affected states become the thing of the past.
2. Bolaji Abdullahi withdraws from Kwara governorship race
All Progressives Congress (APC) former spokesman, Bolaji Abdullahi has pulled out of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship primary in Kwara.
Also Ali Ahmad, Saka Isau, Ladi Hassan, Ibrahim Kaia, Abubakar Anani, Zakari Mohammed and Ahman Pategi pulled out.
3. Saraki, Dogara absent at independence day celebration
Senate President, Bukola Saraki and the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara both missed the independence day celebration at the Eagle Square yesterday.
President Muhammadu Buhari however, led other dignitaries to observe the 58th independence day parade at the Eagle Square, Abuja.
4. Samuel Ortom emerges Benue PDP governorship aspirant
Governor Samuel Ortom has emerged as the 2019 governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Benue State.
Ortom contested against John Tondo, Paul Orhii and Felix Atume for the party’s ticket at the primary election but won massively with 2,210 votes.
5. Ambode has refused to pick up his membership card – Lagos APC chairman
The Chairman of the All Progressives Congress in Lagos, Tunde Balogun, has responded to the claims made by Governor Akinwunmi Ambode about his membership card.
Addressing newsmen at the party secretariat in Acme, the chairman said he made several attempt to reach the Governor but, he rejected his phone calls.
6. Ben Murray-Bruce withdraws from Bayelsa senatorial race
Ben Murray Bruce, the Senator representing Bayelsa East constituency, on Monday withdrew from the senatorial race.
Ben Bruce revealed in a letter posted on his Facebook page.
7. Buhari meets Ambode and Tinubu over Lagos APC crisis
President Muhammadu Buhari has invited a national leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Tinubu and Lagos state governor, Akinwunmi Ambode to Abuja.
President Buhari is reportedly worried over the strained relationship between the duo ahead of the 2019 general election.
8. Nigerians have rejected Buhari and APC – Fayose
Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose has said that the 2019 presidential election will not be a contest between the Peoples Democratic Party PDP) and President Muhammadu Buhari.
In a statement through his special assistant on public communications and new media, Lere Olayinka, the governor said President Buhari will have Nigerians to contend with in 2019 noting that they (Nigerians) are tired of “his misrule.”
9. APC holds Lagos governorship primaries today
The All Progressives Congress will today hold the governorship primaries to elect its candidate for the Lagos state governorship seat in the 2019 general election.
The contest is expected to be a two horse race between incumbent Akinwunmi Ambode and Babajide Sanwo-Olu.
10. Kumuyi visits President Buhari in Aso Rock
General Superintendent of the Deeper Life Bible Church, Pastor William Folorunso Kumuyi, yesterday visited President Muhammadu Buhari at the Aso Rock Villa in Abuja.
Receiving the revered clergy man, President Buhari said Nigerians must appreciate God for bringing everyone together.
